JUST IN: Trump Reacts To ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Victory, Teases Epic Signing Ceremony

President Donald Trump publicly reacted to the House passage of the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” the president’s signature piece of legislation that funds many of his key agenda items, for the first time on Thursday night. Trump teased an epic Fourth of July signing ceremony while speaking with reporters before heading to Iowa to kick off the nation’s 250th birthday celebration.

“And we’re sort of celebrating like, the biggest bill of its kind ever signed,” the president told reporters before boarding Air Force One. “And it’s gonna make this country into a rocket ship, it’s gonna be really great.”

The bill, which passed after weeks of intense back-and-forth in the GOP-controlled House and Senate, will introduce a number of the president’s most important agenda items. Most notably, it will increase funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from $2 billion to a whopping $45 billion, allowing federal immigration agencies to scale up mass deportation efforts by orders of magnitude.

In addition, it will make the president’s first term tax cuts permanent, providing much needed relief for working class Americans. It also enacts no tax on tips, social security and overtime, rapidly expands American energy production, and much more.

“I think when you go over the bill it was very easy to get them to a yes,” Trump said of the GOP representatives who held out until the last minute. “You know, we went over that bill and point after point, biggest tax cut in history, great for security, great on the southern border, immigration is covered, we covered just about everything. Again, it’s the biggest bill of its kind ever signed.”

The president then announced his plans for a triumphant signing ceremony on Friday, July 4. Trump had set independence day as a deadline for Republican lawmakers to have the bill on his desk in order to kick off the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations.

And at about five o’clock, we’re going to have B2s and F-22s and F-35s flying right over the White House. And the speaker and I and John Thune, we’re all there together with most, I think, most Republican senators in Congress, men and women, and it’s going to be a great day,” the president said before boarding Air Force One.

After taking questions, the president headed to Des Moines, Iowa, where he will be speaking at the Iowa State Fair in order to kick off the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration. As one of his first acts as president, Trump established a commission to plan a number of high-profile events to honor the nation’s history, veterans and future ahead of the official centennial year next July 4.
