JUST IN: Trump Reveals Stunning New Details On Tragic Mid-Air Collision: ‘Far Above The 200-Foot Limit’

President Donald Trump revealed findings from black boxes left behind after the deadly mid-air collision between a passenger jet and Army helicopter over the Potomac River, shedding light on mistakes that may have played a role in the fatal tragedy.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump said he’s learned that the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was flying “far above the 200-foot limit” set by the Federal Aviation Administration, which governs the busy airways over Washington, D.C.

“It was far above the 200-foot limit. That’s not really too complicated to understand, is it???” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Todd Inman, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board, told Fox News that the helicopter’s unusual altitude is just one piece of the puzzle federal authorities are putting together to determine its cause.

“Right now, we’ve not ruled anything in or out,” he told the outlet. “But I would be very careful to anyone who’s listening to this to rely upon off the shelf software, speculation they’re seeing online. Our job is to get the absolute facts as we get these [black] boxes in and get them analyzed and we look at more granular data, will be able to give a much better picture on that.”

An initial FAA probe into staffing at the control tower overlooking Reagan International Airport found levels “not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic.” The AP obtained a copy of the report, which said that one individual was performing the functions of two positions at the time of the crash.

“The position configuration was not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic,” the report says.

Still, others familiar with the ongoing investigation told Fox that overall staffing numbers at the control tower were at a normal level, and it’s an acceptable practice for some employees to cover the duties of others while they take short breaks to use the restroom, change shifts, or momentarily step away from their desk.

Understaffing at Reagan’s control tower has been a consistent theme, though. Union recommendations call for 30 full-time employees, but just 19 are currently active there, Fox adds. Experts have long warned that understaffed control towers present serious risks, particularly in high-traffic zones like D.C.

The use of different radio frequencies to communicate with helicopter pilots versus commercial airmen is another consideration in the investigation.

A senior U.S. Department of Defense official previously stated that the Army pilot was “fairly experienced” with the Black Hawk under his control and was equipped with night vision.

On Thursday, President Trump confirmed that 67 are believed to be dead as a result of the collision and that no survivors are expected. Dozens of bodies continue to be recovered from the Potomac, where both aircraft crash-landed after impact.

This was a dark and excruciating night in our nation’s capital and in our nation’s history. A tragedy of terrible proportions,” Trump said from the White House briefing room. “As one nation, we grieve for every precious soul that has been taken from us so suddenly, and we are a country of, really we are in mourning. This has really shaken a lot of people, including other nations of people who were on the flight.”
