Kari Lake Scorches Democrat Leading Trump Impeachment Push To His Face: ‘Where Did This Guy Come From?’

The Democratic congressman pursuing a third impeachment of President Donald Trump got more than he bargained for during a televised panel where he went head-to-head with none other than Kari Lake.

Shri Thanedar (D-MI), who recently announced his intention to run in next year’s Democratic gubernatorial primary, was confronted by Lake and conservative influencer Tim Pool about whether he is using the specter of impeachment to boost his own bid for Michigan’s corner office.

“His numbers are lower than any other president – you have to go back 70 years… The only other president with [such] bad numbers was Trump 45. So people have spoken,” the Democratic lawmaker said while appearing on Piers Morgan’s program.

The host then attempted to goad Lake into expressing reservations about her boss. She is the president’s appointee to lead the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the parent company of Voice of America.

“First of all, where did this guy come from?” she asked about Thanedar. “With all due respect, this is an idiotic thing to do, proving that the Democrat Party has no play. They don’t know what to do right now because Trump is winning on everything. He’s strategizing how to fix the economy that Joe Biden drove not only into a ditch but off a cliff, and this is why the American people were suffering. And it sounds to me like this is a political move to put him in good graces with the AOC crowd and the very, very far-left, radical crowd ahead of another election.”

The 2026 gubernatorial race will take place against the backdrop of President Trump carrying the state in 2024, a feat not done since 2016. He has been embraced, if halfheartedly, by Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who appeared at the White House last month before trying to hide her face behind a binder during a surprise Oval Office signing ceremony.

With the incumbent term-limited, Thanedar is not at such a disadvantage, but regardless, he is not without vulnerabilities.

Despite raking millions of dollars into his congressional account during his 2024 reelection, that money is prohibited from being used in Michigan’s state races, according to campaign finance laws, meaning he will have to start from scratch.

Meanwhile, conservatives angered by his Trump impeachment articles have resurfaced decade-old allegations that his bankrupt pharmaceutical company left dozens of medical research dogs and primates to starve after abandoning one of its facilities. Most of the animals were later rescued by activists, but it has marred his image as a clean-cut immigrant who achieved the American Dream.

Lake added that Thanedar’s transparent attempt to kick up dust amid his controversy isn’t fooling voters.

“The American people are sick of these attempts at impeaching President Trump. They don’t want to see this again, and I’m embarrassed for this gentleman, this congressman, because he’s doing that, that he’s fallen to that level to try and impeach President Trump in his first 100 days as he tries to save us from the serious missteps of Joe Biden and that administration that almost broke the backs of every American in this country,” thundered the former Republican candidate.
