A trial date has been set in the case against former FBI Special Agent Jonathan Buma, who allegedly leaked dozens of classified documents. Buma was routinely citied as a source for a number of conspiracy theories involving Elon Musk and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani during the Biden Administration.

Buma, a 15-year FBI veteran, was arrested as he was getting ready to board an international flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City back in March. He is accused of printing about 130 files of classified FBI documents and messages, which were then allegedly shared with associates for a book he was writing about his career at the bureau.

“The book draft contained information that BUMA obtained through his position as an FBI Special Agent that relates to the FBI’s efforts and investigations into a foreign country’s weapons of mass destruction (‘WMD’) program,” federal prosecutors said in a court document. “On November 2, 2023, BUMA wrote an email to various personal associates assisting him in negotiating a book deal with a publishing company.”

Buma also shared excerpts of the book that contained confidential information in a number of social media posts, prosecutors allege. Court documents further noted that Buma had raised issues with FBI leadership for years, astonishingly arguing that the Wray-led bureau displayed a pro-Trump bias.

In 2022, Buma began voicing his displeasure with the agency’s handling of a number of investigations to various government agencies, lawmakers and the news media. While speaking with Insider News in 2023, Buma claimed that he approached his FBI superior to allege that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had been “compromised” as part of a Russian intelligence operation.

Buma’s conspiracy theory was ultimately shot down and not investigated. He further accused FBI leadership of displaying bias due to their willingness to investigate then-First Son Hunter Biden’s conduct rather than his own theories regarding Giuliani and other pro-Trump figures.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office Central District of California told Fox News that Buma was ordered released on $100,000 bond after being charged with one misdemeanor count of disclosure of confidential information. A trial date has been set for December 9 of this year.
