Kate Middleton Issues First Major Update Since Revealing Cancer Diagnosis

A rare public statement by Kate Middleton has the internet cautiously optimistic that she is doing well in her fight against cancer.

Since revealing the shocking medical diagnosis back in January, Middleton has largely shunned the spotlight, leaving Royal Family watchers playing guessing games about how she is holding up. The New York Post obtained a statement by the Princess of Wales in honor of Mental Health Week that some are taking as a positive sign. Behind the scenes, it turns out she has been working on a special project to address the private struggles of farmers in the U.K.

“This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek we’ve brought together the inspirational Sam Stables from We Are Farming Minds and the brilliant Farmer Will for a very special film,” she wrote on X and Instagram. “Spending a day together on Sam’s farm in Hereford they chatted about mental health in the farming community, finding support and the Duchy of Cornwall’s Mental Health Strategy.”

The post included a short clip of Prince William chatting with Stables, a Duchy of Cornwall farmer who will benefit from cash injections made by the royal couple to keep staffed a 24/7 mental health line for rural residents in crisis.

“Sam and Will’s honest chat about farmers’ experiences with mental health highlights the positive outcomes that can be achieved with the right support, whatever form that might take,” the statement continued. “A farmer or not, we hope that you’ll be able to take something from this film, Sam’s incredible story and his conversation with @farmer_will_.

“@wearefarmingminds is being supported by the Duchy Mental Health Strategy to expand, helping more people in rural communities to access the support they need.”

Followers flooded the comments section with well wishes for the princess.

“I love you, Kate…. hold on….❤️,” one wrote. “We all know Princess Kate is working behind the scene as much as she can while receiving her cancer treatment. What a woman 👏❤️,” wrote another.

A third commented, “Prince William and Princess Kate are always on the front line to help others,” while a fourth added, “Amazing initiative! Thank you Princess Catherine for your care and foresight.”

Others asked why Middleton was not included in the video clip, which shows William touring a farm with Stables, using the hashtag #whereskatemiddleton.

The family’s cleanup effort on the PR front continues since Middleton faced a barrage of criticism for releasing a family photo that had been digitally altered, her first attempt to show well-wishers she was doing fine despite not being seen in public for months. She later released a video with news of her diagnosis that left viewers with more questions, including which cancer she is battling. Since then, she has been seen touring a farm with William while Queen Camilla shared a brief update in March. Middleton’s struggle is one of several faced by the Royal Family this year. King Charles continues to undergo his own treatments for cancer while the former partner to Princess Beatrice was found dead unexpectedly last month.
