White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre suggested that President Biden is one of the most accomplished presidents in the history of the United States while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.
“I mean, look, I think — a couple of things there. I think if you look at what the President has done the last two years, it is more than any other president has done ever, right?” Jean-Pierre told reporters on Monday while enroute to Palo Alto for a press conference on climate change.
“And — and so, he’s — and we’ve said this before: He’s driving the most ambitious climate agenda in American history. He just preserved — if you think about the budget negotiation, what the President was able to do, preserving the Inflation Reduction Act, which is — which is the President’s historic piece of legislation to fight — one of the things that it’s going to do is fight climate change,” she continued.
“And Republicans were trying to repeal that. This is a President, during those negotiations, made sure we held on to that.”

Jean-Pierre was also asked about Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s trip to China, where he announced a stark reversal of the nation’s policy on Taiwan. “We do not support Taiwan independence. We remain opposed to any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side. We continue to expect a peaceful resolution,” Blinken said.
The statement represents a massive departure from a pledge made by President Biden last year in which he stated that the U.S. would intervene militarily to protect Taiwan.
Jean-Pierre refused to get into specifics when asked about Blinken’s trip and the nation’s stance on the island’s political situation. “Is there any update on when the president could actually meet with President Xi or have a call?”” asked one reporter aboard Air Force One.
“So I don’t have anything to read out at this time. So the president is looking to do that sometime down the road, I just don’t have anything specific, or any timeline to zero in on,” Jean-Pierre replied.
“So are you saying that President Biden has not yet spoken with Secretary Blinken after his meetings?” the reporter followed up. “What I can say is he’s been kept abreast by the National Security Council, regular communication with them. Once the secretary lands and gets back to the U.S., he’ll have a full briefing from him,” the White House press secretary answered.
