Law Enforcement Officially Confirms The Worst About ICE Shooter: ‘Real Terror’

Authorities have confirmed the worst about the man behind Wednesday’s shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas, Texas, according to one of the lead investigators.

Handwritten notes left at the suspect’s residence appear to confirm many of the initial beliefs investigators formed about why Joshua Jahn, 29, of Fairview, Texas, opened fire on the ICE detention center at approximately 6:30 a.m. A hail of bullets struck and killed one detainee while wounding two others who are currently undergoing treatment, according to U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson.

The result of the shooting suggests that Jahn inadvertently targeted detainees despite explicitly stating in his notes that he wished to avoid “collateral damage” while targeting ICE officers he accused of “picking up a dirty paycheck” through the performance of their duties.

His intent, Larson stated, was to “maximize lethality against ICE personnel and to maximize property damage at the facility.”

“He hoped to minimize any collateral damage or injury to the detainees or any other innocent people,” she added.

“It seems that he did not intend to kill the detainees or harm them. It is clear from these notes that he was targeting ICE agents and ICE personnel.”

During a press conference, the U.S. attorney for Dallas revealed that Jahn was seen on video driving a blue Toyota Corolla in the vicinity of the detention center at approximately 3 a.m. The car carried a “large ladder” that authorities believe he used to scale an adjacent building where he opened fire from its rooftop.

It was there that Jahn was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Jahn’s home contained “a collection of notes,” one of which contains a confession from the gunman, the U.S. attorney continued.

“‘Yes, it was just me,'” Larson read from the note, concurring that the confession “appears to be correct at this point in the investigation.”

“Notably, these loose notes included a game plan of the attack and target areas at the facility. He called the ICE employees ‘people showing up to collect a dirty paycheck,'” she revealed.

Larson added: “The tragic irony for his evil plot here is that it was a detainee who was killed and two other detainees who were injured. He also hoped his actions would give ICE agents real terror of being gunned down, and he did this to induce constant stress in their lives. He hoped his actions would terrorize ICE employees and interfere with their work, which he called human trafficking.”

Earlier on Thursday, FBI Director Kash Patel revealed that Jahn carried out multiple Google searches about Tyler Robinson, who is facing charges for the Sept. 10 murder of Charlie Kirk, and ICE activity in the Dallas area.

“He conducted multiple searches of ballistics and the ‘Charlie Kirk Shot Video’ between 9/23-9/24,” Patel wrote on social media. “Between 8/19-8/24, he searched apps that tracked the presence of ICE agents.”

Patel also said the shooter “downloaded a document titled ‘Dallas County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management’ containing a list of DHS [Department of Homeland Security] facilities.”

“Further accumulated evidence to this point indicates a high degree of pre-attack planning,” the FBI director said.
