Leaked Text Photos Show Matt Gaetz Getting Lecture From Mom On Trump: ‘That’s His Job’

Nosey travelers are a constant presence while flying the friendly skies, as Matt Gaetz found out the hard way this week.

The One America News anchor was caught on camera bragging about his salary as well as his ability to influence President Donald Trump in a series of text messages with his mother. The conversation was filmed by an airline passenger who appeared to be sitting one row behind him.

In a wide-ranging conversation with his mother, Vicky, Gaetz bragged about having “$500,000 in the bank” and flexing the value of his various real estate assets.

The 72-second video was released on TikTok by a user going by the name “tidesofmarch” — though their actual identity remains unknown, the NY Post reports.

“POV: You’re sitting behind Matt Gaetz and he’s texting his mommy,” reads a caption of the video as it zooms in on Gaetz’s phone screen.

Vicky Gaetz can be seen giving her son some sound motherly advice.

“Don’t be criticizing the president or his actions. He’s trying to keep us safe. That’s his job. MAGA will turn on you. You will lose viewership,” she wrote.

“Your days in congress are over … let’s not mess up the media gig,” she said about his new role as an anchor with One America News, a position he just began in January.

“The president has been a very good friend to you. He hates betrayal. Be smart, not stubborn,” his mom admonished.

“I’m trying to guide him, not criticize him,” Gaetz insisted.

“I’ve never been freer to share my views – and I’ll continue to do so. I think about the people who cheered for the Iraq war because they liked Bush. Those people have blood on their hands,” he said.

Vicky cautioned her son against believing that he has much control over the autonomous President Trump, to which Gaetz replied, “Guiding DJT always includes a private and public component … I know how to do it.”

The conversation then turned to Gaetz’s personal finances, an apparent source of frustration for mama Gaetz.

“How many times do you want to hit the wall?” she asked her son.

“I’m a happily married man with a son on the way, two penthouse condos, a 1:1 real estate asset to debt ratio … and $500k in my bank account cash,” he bragged.

Elsewhere, the two discussed the looming possibility of war with Iran. Gaetz made clear his doubt that Iran is a danger, saying the country has “been 3 months away from a nuke since 1992.”

After his text conversation was spotted by the NY Post and went viral, Gaetz reacted lightheartedly.

“Apparently someone sitting behind me on a flight recorded me without my knowledge. They found me texting my mother about news of the day, family finances, and working on my laptop,” he wrote.

Before his current gig, Gaetz had been tapped by the president to serve as his next U.S. attorney general but was torpedoed after failing to coalesce U.S. Senate Republicans behind his nomination. He withdrew after several embattled weeks, landing at OAN, where he has helped boost ratings at the upstart conservative network.
