‘Lincoln Project’ Founder Rick Wilson Bites The Bullet, Angrily Admits Trump Will Win
Rick Wilson, a founding member of the Lincoln Project, has predicted that former President Donald Trump will clinch the GOP nomination by March 19.
Speaking to reporters in Des Moines, Wilson, who has shifted from being a Republican strategist to a key figure in the anti-Trump Lincoln Project, described the Republican primary as a ‘Kabuki dance,’ implying that the process is more about theatrics than genuine competition.
“That’s the ballgame, stated Wilson. “And so by March 19, even if nothing else happens, mathematically, with all the winner-take-all states on Super Tuesday and all the other lack of miracles out there, the guy’s the nominee.”
The Lincoln Project is a political action committee (PAC) formed in late 2019 by a group of former Republicans. The group’s primary aim is to prevent the re-election of Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election and to defeat his supporters in the Senate.
The project is known for its aggressive social media presence and hard-hitting political ads. They’ve targeted both Trump and Republican Senators who have supported him, accusing them of failing to uphold conservative principles and the U.S. Constitution. Their approach is notable for its directness and the willingness to employ tactics usually associated with Democratic or liberal political action committees.
“I wish there was better news about it. He’s going to wrap this thing up. No amount of spin on the behalf of Nikki or Ron or anyone is going to change the fact that 40 percent of the Republican base will set themselves on fire for that man.”
He continued, “I don’t want to waste time and go through like I said the Kabuki dance of pretending that there’s a primary challenge here that actually threatens him. I want to get to the part of the fight where we have the actual battle with him.”
Wilson said he also believes that “Trump is an existential threat to America.” Wilson, a political strategist, media consultant, and author, is known for his work as a Republican operative. He has a long history in American politics, primarily working on campaigns for the Republican Party.
Wilson has gained widespread recognition for his outspoken criticism of Donald Trump and his administration. “Every day you don’t attack him – the one thing you can never get back in a campaign is a day you’ve lost. You can’t get a lost day back.”
Wilson has worked as a consultant for numerous Republican political campaigns at the state and national levels. His expertise is primarily in crafting political advertisements and strategies.
He became prominently known for his vehement opposition to Trump, both during Trump’s candidacy and his presidency. The stance marked a significant divergence from his previous alignment with the Republican mainstream.
He has even authored books that criticize the Trump administration and the current state of the Republican Party. While traditionally a Republican strategist, Wilson’s opposition to Trump reflects a broader shift among some party members and strategists who have distanced themselves from Trump’s style of politics.
As ‘Super Tuesday’ nears in the 2024 Presidential Primary election, the latest polls indicate that Trump will continue to maintain his initial lead.
