“Liz, You Didn’t Free any Slave”: Cheney Gets Wrecked Following Ridiculous Concession Speech

Liz Cheney just lost her primary and, in her ridiculous concession speech, compared herself to Abraham Lincoln, saying:

“Abraham Lincoln was defeated in elections for the Senate and the House before he won the most important election of all.

“Lincoln ultimately prevailed. He saved our union and he defined our obligation as Americans for all of history. Speaking at Gettysburg of the great task remaining before us, Lincoln said, ‘That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain. That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and a government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from this Earth.’”

So that was beyond absurd, as was the idea that Liz Cheney could come anywhere close to winning a presidential race. Who would vote for her besides Adam Kinzinger and (maybe) Chris Christie and Mitt Romney?

Real Republicans would vote for a real Republican and Democrats will, even if they like seeing her attack Trump, vote for a Democrat. She simply has no constituency, as shown by her humiliating primary loss.

And real Republicans went on the warpath against her following the ridiculous comparison of herself to Lincoln. Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Tx), for example, speaking on Just the News, Not Noise, said:

“Liz, you didn’t free any slaves. You didn’t do that. And Abe was known as ‘Honest Abe.’ Liz, you’re a liar.” 

Similarly, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich torched Cheney during an appearance on Fox News, saying:

“Well, first of all, we have a majority of governors, we have a majority of state legislatures. I think we are about to win a sweep in the House and Senate. We have probably the most unique political figure in modern times.

“You know, Donald Trump has actually won the nomination fight more than anyone in American history. And of the ten people who voted to impeach him in the Republican Party, eight of them are gone, including Liz Cheney.

“So, I mean, no other political figure in American history has had the reach that he has. Now, she is correct if what you are looking for is an old-fashioned, pro-war, pro-establishment Republican who doesn’t really represent the people, but remember, if you believe in government of the people, by the people and for the people, Wyoming spoke and spoke decisively, and Liz Cheney wasn’t on the winning side.“

And, of course, GOP firebrand Lauren Boebert jumped in and piled onto Cheney, saying:

Liz Cheney compared herself to Abraham Lincoln last night in her concession speech.

Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves from the Democrats, he didn’t become a slave to the Democrats.

Nasty Liz Cheney and her ilk are finally being forced out of office, and it’s a good riddance to many Americans, whatever those TDS-afflicted, pearl-clutching RINOs claim.
