Longshot GOP candidate Ryan Binkley announced today that he is suspending his presidential campaign and endorsing former President Donald Trump.

Binkley’s unexpected exit from the race was revealed in a heartfelt message on X, where he extended his gratitude towards his family, friends, campaign team, financial supporters, and volunteers for their unwavering support throughout his campaign journey.

“Today, I am suspending my campaign for the Presidency of the United States of America and offering my endorsement and unwavering support for President Trump,” Binkley stated.

“I would like to thank my family, friends, campaign team, 80,000 plus financial supporters, and the hundreds of volunteers who helped share my vision. Without your efforts, prayers, love, and generosity, none of this would have been possible.”

Binkley’s campaign, although a longshot, was driven by a deep concern for the nation’s economic future, specifically pointing out the unsustainable deficit spending and debt path.

“When I began this journey, it was with a message in my heart that our country needs to awaken to the fact that the unsustainable deficit spending and debt path we are on will undoubtedly lead us to a generational economic disruption,” Binkley wrote.

“Throughout my campaign, I have seen our party struggle to find a place for a new vision while weighing the corrupt allegations and indictments against President Trump. He will need everyone’s support, and he will have mine moving forward.”

Binkley’s endorsement of Trump is a development in the GOP primary race. Polls reveal a tightly contested race for the 2024 Presidential election. A Morning Consult poll conducted from February shows Trump narrowly President Biden by 1 point, with Trump at 44% and Biden at 43%.

In Michigan, the race is dead even, according to a North Star Opinion Research poll, with both Biden and Trump securing 43% support among 600 likely voters. In the Republican primary, Trump has a commanding lead over Nikki Haley, with a Morning Consult survey indicating Trump at 81% to Haley’s 18%, a massive 63-point advantage.

Wisconsin appears to lean more towards Trump. In matchups against Biden, Newsom, and Harris, Trump leads by 4, 9, and 3 points, respectively. Michigan also shows a competitive race but with Trump ahead of Biden by margins ranging from 2 to 4 points according to Emerson College and The Hill/Nexstar surveys.
