Longtime Fox News Host Breaks Silence On Career Plans
Longtime Fox News personality Steve Doocy is setting the record straight about his future at the network, revealing that he has no plans to retire despite stepping away from the iconic “Fox & Friends” couch last year.
The conservative television veteran, who turns 70 on Oct. 19, opened up about his career plans in a new interview with TV Insider, making clear that his decades-long run at Fox News is far from over.
Doocy shocked longtime viewers in May 2025 when he announced he was leaving his regular studio position after nearly three decades on the network’s popular morning program.
But the departure wasn’t a farewell to television. Instead, Doocy relocated to Florida and embraced a new assignment traveling across America, interviewing everyday citizens and exploring stories outside the usual Washington political circus.
Now, more than a year into the arrangement, the veteran broadcaster says he has no intention of calling it quits.
“My plan is just to keep going and do exactly what I’m doing. If it were boring, which has never been boring, I would think twice about it. But I’m having so much fun doing it, and we’re kind of inventing a new way to do this where we use the latest technology called LiveView Technologies (LVT) . We can be anywhere, and we can walk anywhere.”

Doocy explained that he intends to continue working approximately three or four days each week, traveling the country and connecting with Americans from different walks of life.
The new format has allowed him to conduct longer interviews, sometimes lasting eight to 10 minutes, a rarity in the fast-paced world of cable television.
And according to Doocy, viewers have embraced the change, with audience numbers growing as his segments progress.

The longtime host has already visited several locations, including conservative rock legend Ted Nugent’s remote Michigan farm, where the production crew needed Starlink technology to establish a reliable broadcast connection.
The career adjustment has also given Doocy more time with his wife of 40 years, Kathy, their children and grandchildren.
His son, Peter Doocy, has followed in his footsteps, becoming one of Fox News‘ most recognizable Washington correspondents.

Peter currently serves as the network’s senior White House correspondent and anchors “The Sunday Briefing,” regularly questioning administration officials and covering the biggest political developments in Washington.
Steve admitted that watching his son build a successful journalism career has been especially rewarding.
“I do believe Peter is doing a better job than you are doing.”
Doocy said viewers sometimes make that observation when they encounter him in public, adding that he and his wife share the sentiment.

His career milestone comes as Fox News celebrates its 30th anniversary, having grown from an upstart cable network into a major force in American news and conservative commentary.
Doocy has been part of that journey since the network launched in 1996, joining “Fox & Friends” two years later.
And while many television personalities would be preparing for retirement at 70, Doocy apparently has other ideas.
“So as long as I am still upright and can still walk, I’m going to go for walks with people. I love it.”
After three decades behind the microphone, Doocy isn’t ready to hang it up. He’s just traded the red couch for the open road.
