Marjorie Taylor Greene Wages Revenge After Christmas Day Tragedy

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) faced a dangerous and unsettling incident on Christmas Day. The congresswoman was the victim of a “swatting” incident, a malicious prank where an emergency service is falsely alerted to a nonexistent situation at someone’s home.

This was not the first time Greene had been targeted; she reported multiple such incidents in recent days. Greene vented her frustration on X over the handling of the threats, pointing out the inadequacies in law enforcement’s response.

She specifically called out the FBI for their inability to track down the individuals responsible for the swatting calls. According to Greene, despite the FBI’s extensive resources and capabilities, they have yet to identify the culprits.

Swatting is a dangerous prank that involves making a false report to emergency services, typically claiming a violent crime or critical incident, to elicit a heavy police or SWAT team response to a targeted location. Recently, this tactic has been used against politicians.

Rep. Brandon Williams (R-TX) also experienced a swatting incident. The incidents are notorious for wasting law enforcement resources and can lead to serious criminal charges for offenders. A notable case in 2017 involved Thomas Finch, who was fatally shot in a swatting incident, leading to the perpetrator being sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In response to these events, Greene announced her intention to introduce legislation aimed at curbing swatting. “I will be introducing legislation to track down swatters,” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has sent well wishes for me and my family. I will never stop fighting for what is right and I will always put America first! No matter what or who attacks me.”
