JUST IN: Media’s ‘Maryland Man’ Narrative Crumbles After New Report Exposes Violent Illegal
New information about the illegal immigrant and gang-affiliated Maryland man at the center of a dispute between the White House and Democrats has cast a light on the left’s latest antihero.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia was detained by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement authorities during a raid of suspected MS-13 members earlier this month and quickly deported to his home country of El Salvador. When a judge challenged the Trump administration to provide evidence that ICE could prove Garcia was a member of the gang — and therefore eligible for immediate deportation under the administration’s new policies — an uproar followed as both sides sought to fuel narratives that the 24-year-old is either a violent gangbanger or an innocent father of two.
However, a new report suggests that authorities under the Biden administration quietly ordered the release of Garcia after he was found smuggling a truckload of trafficking victims.
In December of 2022, Tennessee State Police stopped a vehicle being driven by Garcia and immediately contacted the FBI for guidance. Within two hours, the Bureau ordered state police to release him, according to the TN Star.
Details contained in a police report from the two-hour incident indicate that Garcia was carrying seven passengers when he was stopped and found to be driving without a valid license. One source said authorities located Garcia on a national terrorist watch list but could not find him on a list of targets for deportation.
That led the State Police to call FBI officials under the direction of Christopher Wray. Rather than turn Garcia over, officers were instructed to photograph and document evidence at the scene before allowing all eight individuals to leave.
One source said that the investigation revealed Garcia was transporting the seven individuals to Maryland from Texas at the time.
Garcia has been found by two courts to be a member of MS-13, a violent gang known for committing rapes, murders, and other heinous crimes against U.S. citizens. He is currently believed to be housed in El Salvador’s mega-prison, home to the western hemisphere’s largest population of violent criminals.
Nayib Bukele, the country’s president, said at the White House this week he does not intend to release the man and has no power to return him to the U.S., given that he was living in Maryland illegally. That didn’t quell questions from reporters who asked whether President Donald Trump and his administration plan to abide by a U.S. Supreme Court order to “facilitate” his return.
On Wednesday, the White House press corps was stunned into silence when Patty Morin, the mother of a Maryland woman killed by an illegal immigrant, passionately implored reporters to “tell the truth” about violence being perpetrated against U.S. citizens by illegal immigrants in her home state.
Morin’s appearance was quickly followed by the release of additional facts about Garcia, including that his wife, a U.S. citizen, in 2021 filed for a restraining order against him, citing fear for her physical safety.
