Arrest Made In The ‘Random’ Murder Of Upper Darby Teenager Michael Garr
An arrest has been made in what police are calling the “random” murder of 15-year-old Michael Garr, who was stabbed to death in the Philadelphia suburb of Upper Darby last spring.
Marson Weh, 24, is facing charges of first-degree murder in connection with the killing of Garr, who was a sophomore in the Upper Darby school district. The charges were announced by Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer and Upper Darby Police Superintendent Tim Bernhardt during a press conference Wednesday.

On April 23, 2023, Garr was found bleeding from a stab wound to his chest in Drexel Hill. Neighbors and paramedics attempted to revive him but the teen was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene,
“It’s terrible. It’s a disgrace where we are in society with kids,” Upper Darby Police Superintendent Tim Bernhardt said at the time. “How do you get to a point to where kids this age can commit an act of violence like this? There are no words to explain it. Our hearts go out to the family. We ask that everyone keeps the family in their hearts and prayers.”
After interviewing potential witnesses, Upper Darby police scanned thousands of hours of local surveillance footage. They eventually spotted a man running towards Baltimore Pike in Upper Darby’s Clifton Heights neighborhood on the night of Garr’s murder.
Police later identified the man as Marson Weh. At the time, Weh was wanted on unrelated vehicle theft and assault charges in connection with the stabbing of a pregnant woman in Ohio.
Undercover officers then began to surveil Weh and eventually spotted him exiting an area home wearing the same clothes as the night of the murder.
He was soon taken into custody and refused to cooperate with homicide investigators, authorities said. Weh was then extradited to Ohio to face the vehicle theft and assault charges, which he later pleaded guilty to and was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years in prison.
The suspect will later be extradited back to Upper Darby to face charges of criminal homicide, murder and possession of an instrument of crime in connection to Garr’s death.
