WATCH: A Visibly Somber Mike Pence Shows Up To Trump’s Inauguration
Former Vice President Mike Pence looked visibly mortified when attending President Trump’s second inauguration on Monday afternoon.
Not counting President Biden and Vice President Harris, Pence was joined by former Vice President Dan Quayle and his wife, Marilyn, as one of two living vice presidents in attendance. Former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama were also in attendance, while former Vice Presidents Al Gore and Dick Cheney were not.
President Trump’s former running mate first made his way to the Capitol Rotunda after Quayle entered shortly after 11 a.m. Eastern Time. Pence — who was not accompanied by his wife, Karen — appeared somber as he made his way into the room.
“This is quite a moment itself,” Fox News host Dana Perino remarked as Pence entered the Rotunda.
While the majority of inauguration attendees appeared to be in a jovial mood, Pence was joined by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton in looking like he would seemingly prefer to be somewhere else. Both Democrats had noticeable scowls as they watched President Trump and J.D. Vance just ahead of their respective oaths of office.
The inauguration was attended by a number of tech leaders, including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. The business leaders were seated next to top Trump ally Elon Musk and President Trump’s cabinet nominees.
A number of foreign leaders were also in attendance, including former U.S. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Argentinian President Javier Milei, both of whom were seen chatting with cabinet nominees and lawmakers as they arrived at the Capitol Building.
Former House Speakers John Boehner, Newt Gingrich and Kevin McCarthy were among the first guests to enter the Rotunda about an hour before Trump arrived. Paul Ryan — a vehement critic of the president — was noticeably absent.
Members of the Trump family, including Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Lara Trump and their children, as well as Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, filed their way into the room shortly before 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Social media users noted that the president’s youngest son, Barron, towered over the entire delegation.
