Morgan Wallen Rehab Horror: Drinking Problem Revealed

Published

on

The atmosphere shifted dramatically on the evening of April 7 in a Nashville nightspot that’s usually buzzing with the sounds of live country music. The incident involved country music star Morgan Wallen, who allegedly turned an ordinary night out at Chief’s, a popular bar in the heart of Nashville, into a headline-making debacle. Wallen, known for his chart-topping hits and turbulent public life, was arrested after reportedly throwing a chair from a rooftop, narrowly missing a police cruiser parked below.

The latest arrest is not the first time Wallen’s off-stage antics have caught as much attention as his music. The singer, whose tracks like “Whiskey Glasses” and “Chasin’ You” have won him numerous fans, has had a checkered history with alcohol, marked by previous arrests and public apologies. His relationship with alcohol, by his own admission in songs and interviews, has been both a muse and a menace.

“Morgan is generally a nice, fun person to hang out with, but when he gets going he doesn’t know when to stop,” said a source close to Wallen who preferred to remain anonymous told PEOPLE. “Morgan and alcohol is a problem and it’s been a problem that keeps coming back around.” Sources indicate that the star may need to return to in-house rehab treatment if he continues to struggle with his drinking problem.

The evening in question saw Wallen arriving unannounced at Chief’s. According to witnesses, the singer seemed to be in high spirits initially, mingling with patrons and even taking selfies with fans. However, as the night progressed, his behavior changed drastically, culminating in the reckless act that could have resulted in serious injuries.

The implications of his actions extend beyond potential harm. Following his arrest, Wallen faces charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. His lawyer, Worrick Robinson, confirmed that Wallen is cooperating with authorities and emphasized his client’s commitment to addressing his issues with alcohol. “He is cooperating fully with authorities,” Robinson stated.

This comes just days after Wallen kicked off the 2024 leg of his “One Night at a Time” world tour. The tour had begun on a high note in Indianapolis, with fans eagerly anticipating a series of energetic performances. However, the arrest casts a shadow over his upcoming performances, including those scheduled in Nashville at Nissan Stadium next month.

“I’ve not ever been the one to follow the rules as much as some people,” Wallen said to PEOPLE in 2021. He attributed his rebellious nature to his childhood in Sneedville, Tennessee, as a preacher’s kid. “Everybody pretty much knows what you do. They expect you to behave a certain way, and if you don’t, they scold you. I absolutely hated that growing up, and I think a lot of my tendencies come from that.”

Wallen’s candidness about his battles with drinking has resonated with many fans who see his vulnerability as a reflection of his authenticity. Yet, he continues to create questions about the toll his lifestyle is taking on his career and personal life. The singer’s ability to bounce back from previous controversies has been notable, but each new episode tests the patience of fans and the industry.
