Morgan Wallen Trolls Nashville City Council For Delaying The Opening Of His New Bar

Country Music superstar Morgan Wallen trolled the Nashville City Council after they denied a request that will pause the opening of his new bar.

The Metropolitan Council denied a request for Wallen’s new bar — Morgan Wallen’s This Bar and Tennessee Kitchen to build a 20-foot sign outside the building, according to a report from Fox News. The vote to deny the construction was very lopsided, with a final tally of 30-3.

Outkick noted that large, neon signs are common outside Nashville bars and restaurants, many of which are owned by Country Music stars. City leaders made clear that Wallen will not be permitted to do the same, however.

The Country superstar was arrested earlier this year after he allegedly threw a chair off the roof of a bar. The council also accused Wallen of using a “racial slur” for calling someone a “bi**h a** n**ga” several years ago.

“Mr. Wallen is a fellow East Tennessean. He gives all of us a bad name. His comments are hateful; his actions are harmful,” said District 14 Council member Jordan Huffman during the vote.

Others provided similar statements, including council member Delishia Porterfield. “I don’t want to see a billboard up with the name of a person who’s throwing chairs off of balconies and who is saying racial slurs,” she said.

The denial postponed the opening of Wallen’s new bar, which was slated to open its doors over Memorial Day weekend.

In response to city leaders, Wallen took to Instagram to remind them of his immense popularity by posting photos of his sold out, three-day event at Nissan stadium earlier this month.

Wallen partnered with TC Restaurant Group to open This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen in Nashville, Fox News reported. Following the denial, the restaurant group put out a statement informing perspective patrons that the grand opening will be pushed back.

“We’re proud of our team who has worked tirelessly to prepare Morgan Wallen’s This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen for opening. The ground-up construction of a six-story venue launching with hundreds of team members is a tremendous amount of work and a complex process,” a spokesperson for  TC Restaurant Group told Fox News.

“When we open, we want This Bar to be an exceptional experience for guests. Unfortunately, the process requires more time, and we are not able to open and provide that experience this Memorial Day weekend. Rest assured it will be well worth the wait. We look forward to welcoming guests soon,” the statement continued.
