NEW: Top Expert Suggests Biden Had Cancer At Beginning Of His Presidency
Joe Scarborough on Monday morning brushed aside any concern that he was veering into so-called right-wing conspiracy theories, appearing to agree with a medical doctor that it’s beyond “speculation” to believe that President Joe Biden carried an aggressive form of prostate cancer while in office.
Although halting in his questioning, the MSNBC host did not argue with Dr. Zeke Emanuel, an oncologist with the University of Pennsylvania medical system, when he stoically stated that it’s unquestionable Biden aides and family members hid his diagnosis, or the extreme likelihood he was about to be diagnosed, from the public while the Democrat was in office.
“You believe it is likely that if this prostate cancer has spread to the bone, that he could have had it for up to a decade, but certainly is likely, it’d be fair to say, it’s likely to have had this for at least several years?” Scarborough asked guest Dr Zeke Emanuel, a urologist with the University of Pennsylvania medical system.
“Oh, more than several years,” Emanuel responded vigorously. “You don’t get prostate cancer–”
“I just want to stop you: So this, this is not speculation. If you have prostate cancer that has spread to the bone, then he’s most certainly, you are saying, had it when he was President of the United States?” interjected Scarborough.
“Oh yeah. He did not develop it in the last hundred, two hundred days,” Emanuel replied. “He had it while he was president. He probably had it at the start of his presidency in 2021. Yes, I don’t think there’s any disagreement about that.”
Warmhearted words of support by President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama, and many on both sides of the aisle belied the undercurrent of theories about how and when Biden’s inner circle knew about his cancer. The discussion immediately took on a partisan hue, with MAGA commentators being the first to suggest that it was inconceivable the 82-year-old was otherwise healthy until recently.
Chief among them was an accusation by Donald Trump Jr. that such late-breaking medical news suggests a “cover-up” by the former administration.
“What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer or is this yet another coverup???” he wrote on X Sunday.
WATCH:
Dr. David Shusterman, a board-certified urological surgeon who teaches urology to up-and-coming physicians, similarly stated on NewsNation Sunday that President Biden could have carried malignant cancer for “five to ten years” before last week’s announcement.
With a Gleason Score of nine, the former president’s cancer is more likely to spread and expand.
“I have to say that in my expertise as a urologist, prostate cancer like this doesn’t come on just overnight. This happens over a long period of time. And typically you would see a PSA elevation, you would do a biopsy, and then you would do a treatment for the prostate cancer,” Dr. Shusterman said.
The urology expert continued, “But in the modern age of medicine, especially the fact that he was a former president, he had intensive state-of-the-art care where we can see prostate cancer 10 years in the past. So this is, I mean, it’s very unusual to hear that someone has prostate cancer where they’re annually being followed up.”
