A 26-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly damaging a home tied to Vice President JD Vance, prompting a late-night response from Cincinnati police and the U.S. Secret Service.

Authorities descended on the East Walnut Hills neighborhood shortly after midnight Monday after reports of property damage at the residence. WLWT cameras captured what appeared to be broken windows, as officers and agents spent hours moving in and out of the home.

The Secret Service confirmed a suspect was detained by its personnel and later arrested by Cincinnati police.

Officials said the man was taken into custody for “causing property damage, including breaking windows on the exterior of a personal residence associated with the Vice President.”

The agency said it is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office as the case moves forward.

An arrest report obtained by WLWT identified the suspect as William DeFoor, 26.

According to a statement of facts, DeFoor was seen by a Secret Service agent and captured on security footage walking onto the property without permission. Investigators say he damaged four windows and a vehicle on the property.

DeFoor has been charged with criminal damaging or endangering, obstructing official business and criminal trespass, all misdemeanors, along with one count of vandalism, a fifth-degree felony.

JD Vance had been in Cincinnati for the past week but left the city Sunday afternoon, hours before the incident unfolded.
