MUST-WATCH: Kari Lake Eviscerates Liberal Reporters In Fiery Exchange
Kari Lake was approached by Tim Miller and John Heilemann of The Circus, a left-leaning political series from Showtime, after an appearance on Steve Bannon’s War Room in Las Vegas Saturday.
The tense 16-minute exchange that saw Heilemann angrily dropping a ‘f-bomb’ on Lake was conspicuously not included in the final episode of The Circus, which aired Sunday. Luckily though, the Lake campaign team filmed the entire interview and Lake posted it to X the same day the show was released.
Lake captioned the unfortunate exchange: “The Circus on Showtime sent out a couple of clowns to interview me. It doesn’t have to be this painful for the Propagandists in the fake news. We could have a great conversation if they would just ask honest questions about the issues that Americans are concerned about.”

The interview seemed to begin cordially enough with what appeared to be some good-natured ribbing from Lake toward Miller. However, the co-host seemed to pivot toward thinly veiled contempt. He noted that he and Lake were “cut short last time.” Lake observed, “I wasn’t mad, no. No. I had places to be. We were at CPAC not liberal PAC saving America.”
Miller may have been referencing a brief interaction between them at CPAC during which Lake challenged the cohost for refusing to look at evidence of irregularities in the 2020 election. He in turn accused her of refusing to court McCain and Ducey supporters in Arizona. She closed by asking his age and suggested “You’re 41 and you dress like a 13-year-old.”

Lake started off the Las Vegas interview by asking Miller if he’s better off now than he was four years ago financially in the backstage area following her War Room appearance.
Lake, possibly unaware that The Circus was already scheduled for cancelation, asked if Showtime gave Miller a $1,300 per month raise, citing the figure as being necessary “to survive in Biden’s economy.” He answered, “No. I’m a grinder. I have a lot of jobs.”
From discussing the economy, Miller turned toward former President Donald Trump’s policies and asked why Lake supports him over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis or former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Lake level set the engagement by telling him,
“We’ve got a situation right now where people are afraid to walk across the grocery store parking lot. And then they get in the grocery store and they’re afraid when they get the bottom line. And they go: ‘Wait a minute, I can’t even afford my groceries anymore.”
“Maybe you’re making great money,” she suggested to Miller. He began to answer, “I don’t know…” before shockingly refuting the ongoing, well-reported national struggle with inflation brought on by Biden policies, telling Lake: “I don’t think any of that is happening. But that’s not really beside the point.”
Lake answered, “If you are making great money, and you can afford gas and groceries, I applaud you. Good for you. But you know what? Americans are struggling right now. Tim, they’re really really struggling.”
Miller answered, “But I don’t think Donald Trump really cares about any of that. All he talks about- you’re talking about that, that’s something- but all he is talking about is retribution against Jack Smith and how Letitia James is racist, and relitigating the 2020 Election. He not talking about regular people’s concerns.”
Lake fired back, “He’s talking about a lot of people’s concerns. Unfortunately, you may not be listening to it. Have you?” He then claimed, “I read his Truth Social feed. And it’s just like ‘Racist Letitia James’ and ‘Ron DeSantis is falling like a bird,’ and he’s ‘DeSanctimonious.'”
Evidently, Miller has missed Trump’s regular ‘Agenda 47’ videos and statements, all posted to Truth discussing topics ranging from “Using Impoundment to Cut Waste, Stop Inflation, and Crush the Deep State” to “Ending the Scourge of Drug Addiction in America,” his “Ten Principles For Great Schools Leading To Great Jobs,”and that “America Must Have the #1 Lowest Cost Energy and Electricity on Earth.”
Lake challenged him,
“Have you listened to any of his speeches at any of his rallies?”
The back and forth between Lake and Miller continued for about five more minutes before Heilemann interjected, asking Lake, “Do you still fully support Steve Bannon? Given all the things he’s said to us?”
She jokingly asked Bannon if he still supported her offscreen; he can then be heard answering “1000%.” Heilemann and Lake began to disagree, talking over each other when Lake accused the pair of being “cocky,” and Heilemann stated that he never interviewed Lake before. (She would go on to remind him that he had been in a previous press gaggle in Scottsdale, AZ, and questioned her, which her team provided footage of.)
He then asked for a “substantive question about something Steve Bannon said”, Lake agreed and Heilemann asked,
“In our interview, he said that anybody in the Republican party who doesn’t accept that… who doesn’t believe …. he said that anybody in the Republican party who doesn’t believe that Donald Trump won the election in 2020 is no longer welcome in the party or the movement, is that your position?”
Lake replied by asking, “Do you believe Joe Biden won 81 million votes?” and the argument began.
Heilemann followed up saying, “You’re not answering my question.” Lake replied, “I’m asking you…,” and he interjected, “You’re not answering my question. Do you think that anybody in the Republican Party…”
Bannon then butted in, saying: “Don’t lie, not in the Republican Party, I said to elected office, you can be part of the movement.”
Lake then tried to refocus the host’s attention. He asked, “I just would like to know, whether you believe, whether you think that’s the case or not.” She answered, “I like people who have a grip on reality. And anybody with a grip… Do you know that Joe Biden like a million times..” Heilemann cut her off again, “You’re not going to answer the question, are you? Do you agree with Steve Bannon?”
Lake then answered succinctly,
“Yes, I agree with Steve Bannon. Anyone who thinks Joe Biden won 81 million votes does not have a grip on reality.”
But Heilemann didn’t seem to like the answer. He continued, “That’s not what I asked. That’s not what I asked. What I asked was do you believe that anyone who says, that doesn’t say that Donald Trump won the election in 2020? That was the question. The question wasn’t 81 million votes. That’s a lawyer’s move. The question is do you agree with Steve that anyone who doesn’t agree that Donald Trump won the 2020 election should not be part of the MAGA movement, the Republican Party, any of it.”
Lake answered again,
“Yeah. Anybody who believes… let’s look at the 2020 Election. Anybody who believes Joe Biden won 81 million votes, I don’t think understands what’s going on.”
Becoming visibly angry, Heilemann continued, “You keep saying the 81 million vote thing. The 81 million votes thing like…” Lake argued, “That’s what the count was right?”He continued, “If he won 80.9 million votes…” and Lake jumped on it, “Anybody who believes Joe Biden won 80.9 million votes doesn’t understand.”
Heilemann asked further, “Anyone who thinks that Joe Biden is the legitimate elected President of the United States right now doesn’t belong in the Republican Party? Yes?”
Lake quipped, “I believe Joe Biden is sitting in the White House. I don’t know that he knows he’s there. But he’s sitting in the White House.”
“Oh, that’s so funny,” Heilemann answered, clearly not amused. He continued after Lake erroneously called him Jay. “My name’s not Jay but I’m just asking the question. It is still the question I’m asking I can’t get an answer to…” (despite Lake answering it twice) “Is it the case that you believe that anybody who believes Joe Biden is the legitimately elected President of the United States right now should not… is not welcome in the Republican Party? Yes or no?”
Lake replied, “No, obviously, any Republican who thinks Joe Biden is the Pres- obviously he’s sitting in the White House, Yes.”
Heilemann, raised his voice talking over Lake “Is the legitimately elected President of the United States? I’ll say it again. Is it, is it? Yes?”
Perhaps sensing Heilemann’s distress Lake invited him to take her hands. He threw up his hands and began to walk away complaining that Lake wouldn’t answer his question.
She asked, “What do you need to hear to feel okay with this?”
At this point he walked away, saying, “I’m done. I need to ensure you answer the F**king question, when you’re asked a direct question. Just answer the question, it’s a simple factual question. Steve asked it, answered it. You can’t answer it. You don’t want to answer it?”
While demonstrably Lake answered his question at least twice in full, the interview’s conspicuous omission from the final episode of The Circus suggests that Heilemann and the Showtime production team didn’t like the answers she gave. The cancelation of The Circus was first reported by Politico and Deadline.
