NBA Team Forced To Apologize After Saying Only Women Can Birth Children
An NBA team had to walk back and apologize for a video they posted in honor of Women’s History Month. The Toronto Raptors created a video in which three different players were asked what made women “run the world,” referencing Beyonce’s song “Girls Run The World.”
“Girls run the world because they are the only ones that can procreate. They birth everybody,” the Raptors players responded. The video was swiftly taken down after critics called it “misguided and rushed.”
The Raptors were forced to apologize for the lack of “inclusion” their video supposedly displayed. “We’re an organization that prides itself on doing the right thing when it comes to inclusion and representation, and we made a mistake (Tuesday). Our sincerest apologies to our players, our staff and our fans – we’ll work to do better today and every day after,” the team said in a statement.
The video can be seen below.

“Women HISTORY month. The clue is in the word history. Historically, every one who has been born, Every Single Human who ever was, has been born to a WOMAN. @Raptors wtf are you apologizing?” one Twitter user asked.
“Nothin wrong w/ giving props for the coolest thing a human can do,” Toby Turner, a prominent Youtuber added.
In February, the NBA fined a player for saying he was not homosexual during an interview after a game:
The NBA has fined Cam Thomas, Brooklyn Nets guard, $40,000 for using “derogatory” language following the team’s win against the Chicago Bulls.
Thomas was interviewed on the court by TNT, along with new teammate Spencer Dinwiddie.
Two days prior, Dinwiddie had made a joke to the media about the recent Kyrie Irving trade, saying that while the Nets may not have acquired the most talented players, they did get the best-looking one. The trade involved Dorian Finney-Smith moving to Brooklyn.
“And the Nets needed some help in that department,” Dinwiddie said. When asked by TNT about Dinwiddie’s comment, Cam Thomas said after Thursday night’s game, “We already had good-looking guys, no homo.”
