Never-Trumper George Conway Repeatedly Breaks Down In Tears During Bizarre Podcast Episode

George Conway—one of the most prominent anti-Trump legal voices in the country—suffered a string of emotional breakdowns during a podcast episode.

The co-host of the episode, fellow anti-Trump activist Sarah Longwell, seemed unfazed as Conway repeatedly wept on air over a letter written by the granddaughters of legendary attorney Paul Weiss. What began as a supposed legal discussion quickly spiraled into a dramatic display of emotion, leaving listeners questioning whether Conway’s crusade against Trump has veered into obsession.

“I’m I’m going to get moist-eyed here, because when I first read that letter yesterday, I got moist eyed,” Conway said, choking up early in the episode. His emotional unraveling continued as he read from the letter, praising its defense of “democracy” and the “rule of law.”

“This is a fight for democracy, this is a fight for the rule of law and some people just don’t give a [expletive] and that makes me angry,” he said through tears.

The podcast fixated on how major law firms have allegedly responded—or failed to respond—to political pressure from what the hosts called a “Trump-aligned government.” But it wasn’t legal reasoning that dominated the episode. Instead, Conway’s tears stole the spotlight.

At one point, he referenced another letter—this one from the granddaughters of Judge Simon Rifkind—addressed to the Paul Weiss firm. The granddaughters condemned the firm for, in their view, hiding behind their grandfather’s name while engaging in political decisions they opposed. Conway again became visibly emotional, calling it “profoundly moving.”

“This is what it’s about. Not that third house in the second house in the Hamptons or or whatever it is that these people seem to be striving for these days,” Conway added, struggling to maintain his composure. “The legal profession actually is horrified collectively horrified by what’s been happening.”

The episode eventually ended with a discussion about the possibility of Trump pursuing a third term—an idea not grounded in legal reality but floated nonetheless by Longwell and Conway as a worst-case scenario. They closed with a call for the legal community and general public to stay vigilant in what they see as a crisis of constitutional proportions.

Conway, who rose to national prominence for his outspoken opposition to Trump, has long had a complicated relationship with the president. Despite being a conservative lawyer with an impressive legal resume, Conway’s marriage to former Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway kept him in the public eye even as he torched the administration from the sidelines.

In 2019, he co-founded the Lincoln Project, a PAC aimed at defeating Trump and dismantling “Trumpism” within the Republican Party. He also helped launch Checks and Balances in 2018, another legal group built to push back against what he and others claimed were Trump’s attacks on constitutional norms.

His feud with Trump turned personal, with the president branding him the “husband from hell” and a “stone cold LOSER” after Conway questioned his mental fitness.

If his latest podcast is any indication, George Conway might be crying more tears in the months to come.
