NEW: Adam Schiff Mocked Online After Old Footage Surfaces

Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) is under fire after a resurfaced video from 2023 shows him passionately condemning government shutdowns under former President Joe Biden—yet now, with President Trump back in office and another shutdown looming, Schiff is singing a different tune, shifting blame to Republicans.

The video, now making the rounds on social media, captures Schiff warning about the dire consequences of a government shutdown during a time when Democrats controlled both the Senate and the White House. He was concerned for federal workers, TSA employees, and members of the military who wouldn’t receive paychecks during a funding lapse.

“Had the government shut down, hundreds of thousands of people would have not gotten their paychecks. Federal employees would have been furloughed, sent home. Others deemed essential, like TSA workers, they would have been forced to go to work and not paid,” Schiff said in the 2023 video.

Yet today, with President Donald Trump back in office, Schiff appears to have a much different take. In a new video from TikTok, Schiff shifts the blame to the Republican-controlled Congress, claiming the government shutdown issue is solely their responsibility.

“So is the government shutting down? Well, that depends on Donald Trump and the Republicans. They control the White House. They control the House. They control the Senate. It’s really up to them,” Schiff said, disregarding bipartisan negotiations and complexities that come with funding disputes.

Schiff then claimed that Republicans had instead passed a partisan resolution that “changed all kinds of funding levels” and stripped Congress of the ability to overturn Trump’s tariffs.

Critics were quick to note that under the Biden administration, Schiff and other Democrats had no problem using partisan budget measures to push their own agenda.

“What we should do is something short-term that will allow members of Congress to agree on setting regular funding levels for every part of the government and to insist that they be observed by the president,” he said in the video.

The internet was quick to call out Schiff’s hypocrisy, with social media users piling on with blistering criticism.

“I am not a violent person nor am I suggesting that anyone do this. However, don’t you want to punch this Ahole in the face every time he opens his lie hole? (Get it? I changed pie hole to lie hole. I get credit for coining the phrase!!),” one user joked.

“If you look in a dictionary for the meaning of ‘hypocrisy’ you’ll see the face of Adam Schiff,” said another.

Another added, “Can’t believe a word any DemocRAT says, especially Adam ‘Pencil Neck’ Schiff, a proven and serial liar.”

A shutdown happens when Congress fails to pass funding bills, halting non-essential operations and furloughing federal employees without pay. Shutdowns usually stem from political disputes over budget priorities, such as the 2013 clash over the Affordable Care Act or the 2018-2019 fight over border wall funding.

As of now, the U.S. faces a potential shutdown if Congress does not pass new spending legislation by Friday. With the current funding extension set to expire, the government is at risk of experiencing another lapse in operations.
