NEW: Army Launches Investigation Linked To Kid Rock After Apaches Hover Near Nashville Mansion
Kid Rock is drawing heat from the Army after posting video that appeared to show military helicopters hovering near his Nashville-area home, prompting Fort Campbell to open an investigation into the flight.
The “Cowboy” singer, 55, whose full name is Robert Ritchie, shared a clip showing two helicopters idling near his property in Whites Creek, Tennessee, as he pumped his fist. He told WKRN he wasn’t worried about the scrutiny.
“I think they’re gonna be alright,” he told the outlet. “My buddy is commander in chief. I mean, what are they looking into? They stopped seconds … a minute?”
Rock said pilots sometimes train in the area and he routinely acknowledges them.
“It was pretty cool they stopped right there,” he said of Saturday’s maneuver. “I wasn’t expecting any of that, but I thought it was pretty neat.”
In the video, an Apache attack helicopter hovered near a pool that featured a life-sized Statue of Liberty sculpture. Rock took a swipe at California Gov. Gavin Newsom in the caption.
“This is a level of respect that s— for brains Governor of California will never know,” he wrote.
He also added: “God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her.”
Fort Campbell confirmed it is reviewing what happened.
“Fort Campbell leadership is aware of a video circulating on social media depicting AH-64 Apache helicopters operating in the vicinity of a private residence associated with Mr. Robert Ritchie (also known as “Kid Rock”). The command has initiated an investigation to review the circumstances surrounding this activity,” Maj. Jonathon Bless, a 101st Airborne Division public affairs officer, said in a statement.

“The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell maintain strict standards for aviation safety, professionalism, and adherence to established flight regulations. We take all concerns regarding aircraft operations and their impact on the surrounding community seriously.”
Bless said the helicopters were training in the Nashville area and pushed back on claims the flight was tied to politics, noting the aircraft also reportedly flew over the No Kings protest in downtown Nashville earlier in the day.

“These helicopters were flying a route in the Nashville vicinity for training purposes. Any association with the No Kings Rally also happening in Nashville that day is entirely coincidental,” he said.
Rock is a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump and backed him in all three of his presidential campaigns. He performed “American Bad A–” at the 2024 Republican National Convention with altered lyrics highlighting his support for Trump.
