NEW: Bill Clinton Faces Legal Firestorm After Defying Order

on

Former President Bill Clinton appeared to snub a congressional subpoena Tuesday, skipping a scheduled appearance before the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

Clinton was ordered to sit for a sworn, closed-door deposition in the committee’s bipartisan probe, but Fox News Digital did not observe him entering or leaving ahead of the planned 10 a.m. session.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., had warned that Clinton could face contempt of Congress proceedings if he failed to appear.

Several lawmakers were seen entering the committee room, including Reps. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., and Scott Perry, R-Pa.

Comer is also threatening contempt proceedings against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton if she does not comply with the panel’s request to testify on Wednesday.

Last July, the Oversight Committee’s subpanel on federal law enforcement unanimously approved subpoenas for 10 individuals connected to the Epstein case. Those included former Attorney General Bill Barr and former FBI Director James Comey. Both Clintons, who had past associations with Epstein, were also named, with Bill Clinton scheduled for Tuesday and Hillary Clinton for Wednesday.

A committee spokesperson said neither Clinton had contacted the panel regarding the subpoenas or explained their apparent refusal to appear this week.

The Hill reached out to a spokesperson and an attorney for the Clintons, but neither responded immediately on Tuesday morning.
