NEW: Brian Kemp Fires Back At Georgia Senator Pushing Impeachment For Fani Willis

Gov. Brian Kemp stated that he has not received “any evidence” indicating that state Sen. Moore possesses the majority required for the impeachment of Willis. This comes after Moore asserted in a letter to the governor on Thursday that he had secured the support of “3/5 of each respective house” for his motion to convene a special session.

However, Garrison Douglas, a spokesperson for Gov. Kemp, mentioned to Fox News Digital that no proof has been presented to validate this claim.

“As a Georgia State Senator, I am officially calling for an emergency session to review the actions of Fani Willis,” Moore wrote on X (Twitter) on Thursday. “America is under attack. I’m not going to sit back and watch as radical left prosecutors politically TARGET political opponents.”

The statement read:

We, the undersigned, being duly elected members of the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia Senate, and comprising 3/5 of each respective house, pursuant to Article IV, Section II, Paragraph VII(b), hereby certify to you, in writing, with a copy to the Secretary of State, that in our opinion an emergency exists in the affairs of the state, requiring a special session to be convened under that section, for all purposes, to include, without limitation, the review and response to the actions of Fani Willis.

In a clarification to Fox News Digital, Moore indicated that the mention in the letter about securing a majority in both legislative chambers wasn’t correct.

“Tell Brian Kemp and his team to turn off CNN and open their eyes. I’ve done 25 TV, radio, and podcast interviews with one identical message: I need 3/5 of my colleagues to sign the letter,” Moore communicated to Fox News Digital. “The people of Georgia are seeking action, not additional hollow words from superficial politicians.”

When probed for more details about the state senator’s push for Willis’s impeachment, Kemp’s office refrained from commenting because of the governor’s personal connection to the matter. “Given the governor was subpoenaed in this case in November of 2022, our office will not be commenting further,” the statement continued.

Moore created an official petition that calls for an investigation into the actions of District Attorney Fani Willis, who he described as abusing her position of power by pursuing Trump.

The petition is urging colleagues in the Georgia legislature to convene an emergency session to review Willis’s actions and determine if they warrant impeachment. Moore expressed his concerns about the “politically-motivated weaponization” of the justice system and suggests that such actions at the expense of taxpayers should not be tolerated. There’s also a demand to defund Willis’s office until clarity is achieved regarding her actions.

For additional remarks, Kemp’s office referred Fox News Digital to statements provided by one of Kemp’s top aides, Cody Hall.

In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hall raised a rhetorical question, “Where have I heard special session, changing decades-old law, and overturning constitutional precedent before?”

“Oh right, prior to Republicans losing two Senate runoffs in January of 2021.” Hall went on, “What are people hoping to learn in the second kick of the election-losing mule?”
