NEW: Comer Hints At Subpoenas For Biden Family After Latest Testimony
U.S. House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) suggested that members of former President Joe Biden’s family may receive their first round of subpoenas to testify in the ongoing investigation probing who was allegedly managing the White House as his mental and physical health declined.
A stonewalling spectacle occurred in Washington, D.C. this week as aides to the Bidens refused to answer repeated questions about their involvement with suppressing growing concerns about Biden’s ability to carry out his duties. Since he left office, a number of aides and Democratic insiders have come forward suggesting other individuals ran the White House around Biden, claims substantiated in ground-breaking books by CNN’s Jake Tapper, Axios’ Alex Thompson, and others.
After his committee adjourned, Comer told reporters that it may not be long before Jill Biden is called to testify, the first time a first lady will take the oath since Hillary Clinton in 1996.
“Every option’s on the table. We’re going to try to get answers. We’re going to try to do this rapidly,” he told reporters who asked if he dared to bring President Biden in for questioning.
“We’ll decide as a committee what steps to take next and who to bring in. But I think right now every option is on the table,” he answered.
Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) forcefully echoed those sentiments, though he maintained he was speaking for himself rather than the committee.
“As far as I’m concerned, every member of the Biden administration at this point needs to be subpoenaed. I don’t care if they were a secretary. I don’t care if they were a janitor working in there. They’ve all got to come in and answer questions,” Donalds said.
Asked if he was referring to Jill Biden, he responded, “Of course.”

Jill Biden’s Chief of Staff, Anthony Bernal, pleads the Fifth this morning – shocker.

Both men participated in a grilling of Anthony Bernal, the former first lady’s chief of staff and someone Democratic insiders claim held tremendous power in the West Wing.
Lindy Li, a former fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, as well as former DNC co-chair David Hogg, have both pointed to Bernal as a “puppet master” orchestrating the Biden administration as the commander-in-chief struggled to stand or even remember the faces of longtime aides.
“Her right-hand man – listen, Anthony Bernal was the right-hand man. That’s her guy, her chief of staff,” Donalds said, Fox News reported. “If he came in here and pleaded the fifth, I’m sorry, the former first lady, she’s got to come in here and answer questions.”
Central to the GOP-led investigation is ascertaining whether any executive functions or orders were carried out without the direct knowledge of President Biden, who over the weekend refuted allegations that he was unaware of who was being issued high-profile pardons during his final days in office.
Biden told The New York Times that he “signed off on the standards” of his pardons, a phrase that has prompted more questions than answers about who was directing the pardons and signing them with his autopen.
“Rather than ask Biden to keep signing revised versions, his staff waited and then ran the final version thru the autopen, which they saw as…routine,” the story states.
Bernal is the fourth White House aide to testify in the probe. Comer and Donalds said he spent less than one hour in the hearing, mostly invoking his Fifth Amendment right against giving self-incriminating responses to lawmakers’ questions.
Donalds called the evasive maneuver “stunning” for such a former high-ranking official.
White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor, who signed off on Biden’s fitness months before he dropped out, likewise invoked the Fifth Amendment during his hearing. Former Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomascini was also subpoenaed at the request of her lawyer.
