NEW: Democrat Candidate Admits To Drinking Alcohol Before Train-Wreck Interview
An Indiana Democratic candidate whose bizarre television interview went viral has admitted she drank three beers before delivering a slurred, anti-Republican rant that included a promise to fire GOP officials and a remark about guns.
Jamie West, who is running for Fayette County Council District 4, made the admission Monday during an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” where she was pressed about her conduct during the now-infamous interview.
The original footage spread rapidly across social media after West appeared to slur her words while unloading on Republicans and supporters of President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement.
At one point, West declared that she would fire “all Republicans” if elected, adding, “I don’t even like them.”
She also took aim at MAGA supporters before ending the interview with the eyebrow-raising statement, “We have guns, too.”
Her performance sparked widespread speculation that she had been drinking before stepping in front of the cameras.
When Morgan confronted her about those suspicions, West initially acknowledged having a beer before gradually admitting she had consumed more.

MORGAN: A lot of people — I’m gonna be completely straight with you — a lot of people assumed you might’ve had a drink before you did that interview. Did you?
WEST: I had a Coors Light. I had a beer.
MORGAN: One beer or–
WEST: Maybe a couple.
MORGAN: How many beers did you have?
WEST: I was nervous, OK! I was going in a room with full Republicans!
MORGAN: Look, we’ve all had a drink when we’re nervous, but just to be clear– Jamie, here’s your chance to be completely honest and transparent. How many beers did you have?
WEST: Alright, three.
MORGAN: Three beers.
WEST: Three beers.
The admission confirmed that alcohol had been involved in the interview, although the extent to which it affected West’s behavior remains unclear.
Morgan continued questioning the candidate, asking whether she accepted that she “may have been a little intoxicated.”
West pushed back, insisting she wasn’t “that intoxicated.”
She also defended her knowledge of local political issues despite the controversy surrounding her appearance.
“But I do know what I’m talking about when it comes to Indiana politics,” West told Piers Morgan.

Perhaps even more striking than her admission about drinking was her refusal to back down from the remarks that made the original interview so controversial.
When questioned about her hostility toward Republicans, West reportedly expressed no regrets.
She maintained that she makes similar comments “all the time” and acknowledged that she is “not friends” with her Republican colleagues.
Her explanation offered little indication that she intended to soften her rhetoric following the backlash.
The controversy has placed an unusual spotlight on a local government race in Fayette County, drawing national attention to a candidate whose campaign might otherwise have remained largely outside the political headlines.
West’s comments about firing Republicans also raise questions about how she would approach working with political opponents if elected to the county council.
County councils are responsible for important local government decisions, including financial oversight and budget matters, making cooperation among elected officials an important part of the job.
The candidate’s remarks about guns have also attracted attention, although the available interview excerpts do not establish that she threatened any particular individual.
