In Wednesday’s episode of “The Daily Show,” comedian Marlon Wayans (taking on the character “Quon”) left the audience rolling as he grilled Nathan Wade, the former special prosecutor in the Georgia election interference case against Donald Trump. Wade, who had a controversial relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, faced a barrage of racy and humorous questions that exposed the more personal side of his professional life.

During the interview, Wayans as “Quon,” didn’t hold back. He peppered Wade with suggestive questions, poking fun at his relationship with Willis and his involvement in the Trump case. “So let me ask you, when old girl was like, ‘Hey babe, you want to be in charge of this prosecution of the President of the United States who did this insurrection,’ did you think like, this could get messy? Or you was like, nah, I’ll be all right?” Wayans asked.

Wade attempted to maintain his composure, “We did not have that type of relationship at the outset. And we were interviewing other people for the position.”

Wayans quickly joked, “What position was it?” while moving into a sex position. “Did that position look like this? Or did that position look like this?” mimicking suggestive poses to the delight of the audience.

After Wade resigned as special prosecutor in the case, Trump’s legal team sought to use his relationship with Willis to discredit the case. This led to Wade being compelled to testify, adding another layer of drama to the unfolding saga.

The defense attorney and former municipal court judge had been appointed by Willis to spearhead the high-profile case against Trump. Wade’s career includes a stint as Marietta’s first Black male judge and time with the Cobb County Superior Court. However, Wade’s professional journey took a turn when his close relationship with Willis raised eyebrows, leading to allegations of impropriety.

The conflict of interest forced Wade to step down, with either him or Willis required to withdraw from the case. Despite his resignation, Wade had played a pivotal role in presenting evidence to the grand jury, resulting in the indictment of Trump and 18 others in August 2023.

In May, Wade conceded that he and Willis should have pressed pause on their relationship, which continued in the midst of the Trump trial as well as his own divorce proceedings, but that romance doesn’t always follow the rules of logic. “When you are in the middle of it, these feelings are developing and you get to a point where the feelings are so strong that you start to want to do things that really are none of the public’s concern,” he said in an interview with ABC News.

The news of their romance continues to haunt Willis. She has garnered a strong Republican opponent in her election as well as a lawsuit from a former Democratic lawmaker who alleged Willis failed to protect her from a stalker. Wade’s resignation came after Judge McAfee quashed six charges in the case for all defendants, including three for Trump, related to the alleged pressuring of state officials to violate their oaths of office. Prosecutors previously charged Trump over a statement made to Republican Secretary of State Ben Raffensperger allegedly demanding he “find” over 11,000 votes to change the outcome of the state’s 2020 election.
