NEW: FBI Arrests Several Non-Citizens For Voting In Swing State Elections
U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle of the Eastern District of North Carolina announced Thursday that a federal grand jury had returned indictments against 10 noncitizens for illegally voting in the 2024 elections.
The indictments allege that all 10 individuals falsely claimed to be United States citizens in order to register and vote in the 2024 General Election. The felony offense of falsely claiming citizenship to vote carries a possible sentence of up to five years in prison.
One of the defendants is an illegal alien, while the remaining nine are lawful permanent residents.
Eduardd Omar Majano Sosa, 22, a native of El Salvador and an illegal alien residing in Cumberland County, is charged with one count of falsely claiming citizenship to vote and one count of voting by an alien. He registered to vote in 2024 and cast a ballot in the 2024 general election, prosecutors allege.
