NEW: Former Fox Anchor Charged With Stabbing Mother
A former Fox morning show anchor in Missouri is accused of butchering her elderly mother on Halloween — then allegedly telling dispatchers she did it “to save herself,” according to local reports.
Neighbors in a quiet Wichita, Kansas, subdivision say they were shaken after 47-year-old Angelynn Mock stumbled outside shortly before 8 a.m. Friday, drenched in blood.
“There was a woman who approached our vehicle with like blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911,” neighbor Alyssa Castro told KAKE.
Castro said Mock grabbed her phone and dashed back into the home, where she reportedly called authorities and declared she “stabbed [her] mother to save herself,” Sedgwick County dispatchers told the outlet.
Wichita police found Mock outside the residence with deep lacerations on her hands. Inside, officers discovered 80-year-old Anita Avers “unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds.” She died at a nearby hospital roughly 30 minutes later, police said.

Mock was arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on a first-degree murder charge. She’s being held on $1 million bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
Police later returned Castro’s boyfriend’s phone. Castro told the outlet she was simply relieved they were able to help.
“Like, we never know what anyone is going through. This happened randomly, but as long as we were able to get 911 and see what we can do, that’s all I really care about,” she said.
Avers served as a marriage and family therapist with Wichita Counseling Professionals, her husband confirmed to KAKE.
Mock worked as a morning and evening fill-in anchor at KTVI Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015, according to her LinkedIn profile. She later cycled through sales roles in the area before a two-year gap and eventually joined a data management firm with multiple Midwest offices, including one in Wichita.
