NEW: GOP Senators Announce Plans To Boycott ALL Democrat Objectives In Congress

Republican senators have declared an all-out boycott of Democratic legislative goals, aligning themselves firmly behind former President Donald Trump following his recent felony conviction. The unprecedented move comes as Trump, the 2024 Republican frontrunner, faced legal repercussions on Thursday from a New York grand jury verdict that found him guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records linked to the 2016 presidential campaign.

Leading the charge is Senator Mike Lee (R-UT). Lee wrote on X, “Those who turned our judicial system into a political cudgel must be held accountable. We are no longer cooperating with any Democrat legislative priorities or nominations, and we invite all concerned Senators to join our stand.”

In a fiery letter addressed to the White House and signed by multiple GOP senators including Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and Marco Rubio (R-FL), the group criticized the administration for un-American alterations to U.S. politics. “The White House has made a mockery of the rule of law,” the letter read.

The Republicans’ strategic blockade includes halting all non-security related funding increases, opposing any appropriations bill they view as funding partisan legal battles, and refusing to confirm any of the administration’s political and judicial appointees. They also vow to prevent the expedited passage of Democrat legislation.

Thursday’s groundbreaking verdict made Trump the only former president ever to be found guilty of a felony. His sentencing is scheduled for July 11, with Judge Juan Merchan still presiding. Although the possible sentence could range from prison time to probation, the felony conviction doesn’t prevent Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee for 2024, from running for office again.

As tensions mount, the path forward for bipartisan cooperation appears increasingly fraught. Besides a select few Republicans in blue states, the GOP’s strategy for 2024 is crystal clear: embrace Donald Trump.

Sen. Lee revealed his disappointment following yesterday’s verdict, describing it as “a sad day for America.” In a statement shared on X, Lee criticized the proceedings, citing “unclear charges and irregular jury instructions,” and labeled the case as a “political prosecution.”

Elise Stefanik (R-NY) also criticized the trial’s outcome, saying it reflected a “corrupt and rigged” justice system. “I fully support President Trump appealing this decision and look forward to the New York Court of Appeals delivering justice and overturning this verdict,” Stefanik stated. Additionally, she said that the case was “brought forward by Joe Biden’s allies in a desperate attempt to save Biden’s failing campaign and the verdict hinged on the testimony of a convicted felon who was disbarred for lying.”

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) called for the Supreme Court to intervene following the conviction of former President Donald Trump on numerous felony charges in New York. Speaking on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends,” Johnson said, “I do believe the Supreme Court should step in. I think they’ll set this straight, but it’s going to take a while.”

Although convicted and living in Florida, Trump can still vote as long as he avoids imprisonment in New York state. Lara Trump, Trump’s daughter-in-law and co-chair of the Republican National Committee, mentioned in a Fox News Channel interview on Thursday that if Trump is convicted and sentenced to home confinement, he plans to hold virtual rallies and campaign events.
