As the death toll from Hurricane Helene continues to rise, Vice President Kamala Harris finds herself facing a wave of criticism for her actions—or lack thereof—following the massive storm’s landfall. Helene, which hit Florida as a Category 4 hurricane, has left widespread destruction in its wake with more than 2 million people without power and dozens of families still unaccounted for across six states. The devastation is so severe that rescue crews are only now beginning to grasp the full extent of the damage.
Amid this chaos, former President Donald Trump made headlines by traveling to Valdosta, Georgia, to personally survey the wreckage and provide aid. Meanwhile, Harris has been conspicuously absent in the aftermath of Helene, a fact that conservative commentators were quick to note.
Stephen Miller, a former advisor to Trump, expressed his frustration over Harris’s priorities. “Where the hell is Kamala? Who is running the country? People are fighting for their lives right now and Kamala is drinking ritzy champagne with the limousine liberals in San Francisco,” Miller tweeted.

Others have echoed similar feelings. “I don’t think many people realize how badly Asheville was hit by Hurricane Helene. Where is Kamala?” wrote commentator Ian Miles Cheong, pointing out the Vice President’s absence from the affected regions. The lack of federal leadership in the immediate response to Helene has left many wondering why Harris has not made a similar visit to the disaster zone.

“Really weird that the press aren’t tearing Kamala Harris apart for posing on Air Force Two during a major disaster. I seem to recall that being a huge deal when George W. Bush did it,” wrote one user, alluding to the infamous image of Bush on Air Force One during Hurricane Katrina.

Just an oversight by our stalwart journalistic establishment, I'm sure.

When asked if he had any words for the victims, Biden responded with vague remarks, stating, “Yes, it’s tragic. Matter of fact, we’re trying to get the exact number. My FEMA advisor is on the ground in Florida right now.” When pressed about whether more resources could be provided, Biden bluntly stated, “No, we’ve given them, we have pre-planned a significant amount of it.”

“Biden is in Delaware right now in one of his many estates… Lyin’ Kamala Harris [is] in San Francisco, a city that she has totally destroyed,” Trump said on Friday during a campaign stop. “That’s where she is right now… at fundraising events with her radical left lunatic donors, when big parts of our country have been devastated by that massive hurricane and are underwater, with many, many people dead.”
At her Sunday night campaign rally in Las Vegas, Harris said, “I know that everyone here sends their thoughts and prayers for the folks who have been so devastated by that hurricane and the ensuing events, in Florida, in Georgia, the Carolinas, and other impacted states.” Afterward, the Vice President canceled her Monday campaign stops to return to Washington, where she’s scheduled to receive a briefing on the status of emergency response and recovery efforts, according to the White House.
