NEW: ‘Karate Kid’ Star In Hot Water After Allegedly Biting, Kissing Co-Star

Martin Kove, one of the original stars behind the 1980s hit movie “Karate Kid,” bit off more than he could chew after allegedly assaulting a co-star.

Kove, who returned for the 2018 sequel series “Cobra Kai,” allegedly bit and kissed his co-star, Alicia Hannah-Kim, while the duo appeared at the Washington State Comic Con conference at the Washington State Fair & Events Center in Puyallup on Sunday.

Police responded to the scene and recorded “noticeable” teeth marks on Hannah-Kim’s left arm, according to a report filed by the Puyallup Police Department. The skin had begun to badly bruise and turn blue while Hannah-Kim said Kove nearly drew blood after biting her.

The 37-year-old actress told officers she did not wish to press charges but wanted to file a police report in case Kove’s reported behavior “continues.”

Hannah-Kim acted alongside Kove in “Cobra Kai,” where she played a formidable sensei for two seasons. Kove returned as John Kreese, the head instructor of the karate school made famous in the original 1984 film starring Ralph Macchio.

According to the police report, Hannah-Kim drove her car up alongside a police officer who was sitting in his cruiser while monitoring the event to report that Kove bit her.

She claimed that Kove tapped her on the shoulder to say hello, then sank his teeth into her arm. He quickly kissed the spot where he bit her, Hannah-Kim states in the report.

Hannah-Kim and her husband, who was on site, later confronted Kove, who “exploded on them” and claimed he did nothing wrong, she told police. The couple then walked the officers over to Kove and his son, who works as his agent, before they took both men to a private area to speak with them.

Kove then admitted to biting Hannah-Kim on the arm but defended his action, saying it was meant in jest and the two play-fought on the set of “Cobra Kai” all the time. The officer then told Kove his action was illegal and he could be arrested and placed in jail for assault.

Kove said he apologized to Hannah-Kim shortly after biting her.

Neither actor commented to the Seattle Times.

“Cobra Kai” aired its sixth and final season in February. The show, which began on YouTube Red, developed a cult following and garnered stellar ratings before making its way to Netflix.

In a statement to TMZ, Kove, 78, took responsibility for his actions.

“I deeply regret and apologize for my actions regarding the incident with Alicia, a genuinely kind and wonderful person who didn’t deserve to be put in this position,” he said.

Kove added: “I’ve always respected her and considered her a highly professional and talented co-worker on ‘Cobra Kai.’ I was being playful in the moment but went too far and there is absolutely no excuse for my behavior.”
