NEW: Lance Twiggs Reveals Tyler Robinson’s ‘Erratic’ Behavior After Alleged Murder, Admits He Tearfully Expressed Regret
During Thursday’s preliminary trial of Tyler Robinson in the Charlie Kirk murder case, prosecutors played portions of a recorded interview with Lance Twiggs, Robinson’s former roommate and romantic partner. The interview, conducted in April 2026 under use immunity, described events following the September 10, 2025, shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
Twiggs recounted Robinson’s return to their shared apartment in St. George the morning after the incident, including statements about the shooting and Robinson’s subsequent actions and demeanor.
Twiggs stated that Robinson left their apartment earlier than usual on the morning of September 10, around 4 or 5 a.m., indicating he had a long trip or drive to an electrician job. Communication resumed late that night when Robinson texted Twiggs to look under his keyboard.
A note there read: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”
Additional text messages from Robinson that evening referenced targeting Kirk because he “had enough of his hatred” and added that “some hate can’t be negotiated out.” In one exchange, Twiggs asked, “You weren’t the one who did it, right????” Robinson replied, “I am, I’m sorry.”
Robinson also mentioned in messages that he hoped to keep the matter secret until old age, expressed regret for involving Twiggs, referenced retrieving his rifle from bushes near the scene, and noted changing clothes.
According to Twiggs, Robinson returned to the apartment the following morning. Twiggs described asking Robinson in person whether the statements from the previous night were true. “I just asked him in person if what he said was true the night before, and he said it was,” Twiggs said. “He started crying a little bit and said he wishes he hadn’t done it.”
Twiggs further recounted that Robinson “started crying a little bit, and said he wishes he hadn’t done it.” Robinson indicated he planned to speak with his parents or turn himself in to authorities and then left the apartment.

Twiggs described Robinson as pacing around the apartment and acting erratically during this encounter. Prosecutors have referenced Twiggs’ account as including details that Robinson confessed to the killing, hid the gun used, disposed of his clothing, and instructed Twiggs not to speak with police.
Twiggs further stated that Robinson had been planning the incident for “a bit over a week.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Twiggs noted that Robinson had borrowed a dremel tool from him several weeks earlier to engrave bullets, which Robinson described as preparation for a hunting trip. Twiggs said he had never previously heard Robinson discuss Charlie Kirk and that the two rarely spoke about politics, though Robinson followed political topics more closely than Twiggs and listened to related radio content.
Twiggs identified surveillance images from the university campus as appearing to show Robinson based on clothing and other details, though he expressed some uncertainty in portions of the account.
Portions of the interview video were redacted by court order before public presentation, following arguments from the defense that the material could prejudice potential jurors by being characterized as a confession. The judge permitted a redacted version to be played.
Twiggs and Robinson met in 2023 when Robinson moved into the St. George apartment as a roommate. They began dating a few months later and shared a friend group and were avid video game players.
Twiggs has gone by the name Luna with some individuals, though this was not a consistent or primary identifier. Robinson’s rifle was described by him in messages as an older firearm belonging to his grandfather. Twiggs confirmed in the interview that Robinson spent time on the run for approximately a day and a half after the shooting before turning himself in alongside family members.
