NEW: Letitia James Claims Trump Is Stalking Her In Bizarre Tirade

New York Attorney General Letitia James claimed President Donald Trump is sending people to her home in order to follow her in a bizarre rally speech. James’ remarks came just days before the U.S. Department of Justice formally opened a criminal probe into the Democrat attorney general over allegations of mortgage fraud.

“They got individuals coming to my house, standing outside my house. Last Sunday – church Sunday while I was in church – these individuals were in front of my house, taking pictures and then streaming it, putting it on social media,” James said while speaking at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network headquarters in Harlem on May 3.

“This isn’t nothing more than a revenge tour! This is nothing more than vindictiveness! This is nothing more than an individual who is upset at me because we secured a $454 million judgment against him and his family and his company!” added James, who attended the rally in order to promote City Council President Adrienne Adams’ long shot mayoral campaign, according to a report from the New York Post.

James did not elaborate over which of her properties the alleged minders are showing up, though both her Brooklyn home and a mysterious property in northern Virginia have been at the center of the fraud allegations levied against her.

James is accused of listing a Virginia property she purchased in 2023 as her “principal residence” despite serving as attorney general of New York at the time. New York requires its attorneys general to live in the state for five years before running for office, and requires them to reside there during their time in office.

A criminal referral sent by Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William Pulte further alleged that James previously purchased a Brooklyn home in 2001, but has “consistently misrepresented the same property as only having four units in both building permit applications and numerous mortgage documents and applications,” Pulte noted. This could have allowed James to receive a lower mortgage rate and led to lower payments under the federal Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP).

Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Justice officially opened a criminal investigation into James’ alleged conduct, according to several reports.

Federal agents are now digging into James’s real estate dealings, with growing scrutiny over how she reported properties in both Virginia and New York. According to reports, FBI agents and federal prosecutors are reviewing documents tied to both properties, including records that listed James’s elderly father as an owner.

James has enlisted high-powered attorney Abbe Lowell, whose notable clients include Hunter Biden and Jared Kushner, in order to defend herself against the allegations. Lowell’s hefty price tag could fall to New York taxpayers, thanks to a new bill from state Democrats that allows New York employees to access up to $10 million in funds to combat “targeting” from the federal government.
