NEW: Meghan Markle Chats With Ellen Degeneres In First Public Sighting Since Moving To U.K.

Meghan Markle was spotted on Monday at The Three Horseshoes, an 18th-century pub near Burford in Oxfordshire. The images, which were obtained by Page Six, showed her chatting with Ellen Degeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, both of whom fled the country after President Donald Trump was elected to a second term in 2024.

An eyewitness described the three as chatting and laughing before Markle said goodbye and left. The visit occurred around 2 pm local time, according to Page Six.

Markle wore a light blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up, white pants, white sneakers, and sunglasses, with her hair worn down. A person described as a security guard in plain clothes followed her and carried a bag.

The photographs are the first published images of Markle in Britain since she, Prince Harry, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, arrived in the United Kingdom on August 26. An earlier sighting at the members-only Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire was reported but not photographed.

Prince Harry attended the WellChild Awards in London on the same day. He has appeared at several public events since the family’s return, while Markle had not been photographed in public until this outing.

The couple previously lived in Montecito, California, where they were neighbors of DeGeneres and de Rossi. Markle and Harry attended the couple’s vow renewal in 2023.

DeGeneres and de Rossi moved to the Cotswolds in November 2024. DeGeneres later stated that they had planned a part-time stay but decided to remain in England after Donald Trump was re-elected as U.S. president.

As for Prince Harry and Meghan, the couple relocated from California after spending six years outside of the country. They retain the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex, granted in 2018, though Buckingham Palace has stressed that they are not working royals.

A letter issued earlier this month at the direction of King Charles III confirmed that their status is unchanged. Since they are non-working members of the royal family, their HRH styles remain in abeyance and are not used, and any charitable or other activities are undertaken in a private capacity.
