NEW: Melania Trump’s Letter To Vladimir Putin Has Been Revealed
President Donald Trump on Sunday released the full letter sent by the First Lady, Melania, to Russian President Vladimir Putin during Friday’s high stakes summit in Anchorage, Alaska.
In the emotional letter, Melania Trump urged the Russian leader to negotiate an end to the conflict in order to protect the lives of Ukrainian children after hundreds have been killed and hundreds of thousands more displaced since the Russian invasion of wider Ukraine in 2022.
Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger,” she wrote. “As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope. As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few. Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all – so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded.”
The First Lady then made an emotional appeal based on the sanctity of human life and the innocence of children.”A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation’s descendants begin their lives with a purity – an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology,” the letter continued. “Yet in today’s world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them — a silent defiance against the forces that can potentially claim their future. Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter.”
Melania concluded by directly asking Putin to end the war in order to stop the slaughter. In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone — you serve humanity itself. Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today… It is time.”

While Friday’s summit did not end with a peace agreement, President Trump described it as a productive discussion where the framework of a potential treaty was laid out. The president stressed that the two sides discussed a formal end to the conflict rather than an interim ceasefire.
On Saturday morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Trump for hosting the talks and said his nation is open to a trilateral meeting with Russia and the United States. In a massive shift in rhetoric, Zelensky seemingly expressed openness to conceding territory in order to broker a peace, something he had previously expressed vehement opposition to.
The Ukrainian leader is set to travel to Washington D.C. on Monday in order to continue discussions after an hours-long phone call with President Trump on Friday evening. A number of European leaders will also be on-hand for the summit, including NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Finnish President Alexander Stubb, both of whom have cultivated good relationships with Trump in the early days of his second term.
Additional European leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, may also be traveling to Washington for the meeting.
