BREAKING: Officials Identify Suspect In New Orleans Terrorist Attack
The suspect in the vehicle attack that killed at least 10 and injured dozens more during New Years celebrations in New Orleans’ famed French Quarter has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, according to four senior law enforcement officials who have been briefed on the matter.
Din Jabbar, 42, is accused of intentionally plowing a white pickup truck into New Years celebrants along the iconic Bourbon street. He eventually crashed into a crane before immediately hopping out of the vehicle and exchanging gunfire with police.

Din Jabbar was killed in the ensuing shootout, while two New Orleans police officers were injured. Both injured officers are reportedly in “stable” condition, and it is unclear whether they were injured by gunfire or in the vehicle attack.
In total, at least 35 people were transported to five area hospitals after suffering injuries in the attack. Some of the victims remain in critical condition, while at least 1o others were killed in what is being described as an “act of terrorism” by state and federal law enforcement officials.

Federal officials are currently working to determine whether Din Jabbar fired at victims with a long gun as he drove down the wide street, three senior law enforcement sources told NBC News.
Investigators are also working to piece together additional details about Din Jabbar’s background. In a video uploaded to YouTube, the suspected terrorist described himself as a “property manager” who has lived in Texas his entire life. He further revealed that he served in the U.S. military for 10 years as a “human resources specialist IT specialist,” and said he currently resided in Houston when the video was uploaded four years ago.
NOLA.com is reporting that investigators uncovered a black and white ISIS flag from Din-Jabbar’s vehicle. Police also recovered improvised explosive devices that were detained without incident.
Fox News has previously reported that the truck used in the attack crossed over the United States-Mexico border through Eagle Pass, Texas just two days ago. It is unclear whether Din Jabbar drove the vehicle across the border himself, or if the truck was a rental.
Attorney General Merrick Garland has confirmed that the attack is being investigated as an act of terrorism. “The FBI is investigating this matter as an act of terrorism. The FBI, the ATF, the Justice Department’s National Security Division, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana will continue to work with our law enforcement partners and will deploy every available resource to conduct this investigation,” Garland said.
In a statement if his own, President-elect Donald Trump offered condolences to the victims and blamed the attack on the Biden Administration’s mismanagement of the border crisis.
“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before,” Trump said.
“Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!”
This is a developing story.
