NEW: Pope Leo’s Pro-Trump Brother Faces Bomb Threat At His Home

A bomb threat rattled a quiet Illinois neighborhood Wednesday night after targeting the home of the brother of Pope Leo XIV, authorities said.

Police in New Lenox responded to the scene and swept the property after the report came in. Officials later determined the threat was unfounded.

Residents were briefly evacuated as a precaution while bomb-sniffing K-9 units searched the area. No explosives were found, and no injuries were reported. Authorities said neighbors have since been allowed to return home.

“The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the origin of the report,” police said. “Making false reports of this nature is a serious offense and may result in criminal charges.”

“The New Lenox Police Department thanks the community for its cooperation and patience during the investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the NLPD at 815-485-2500 or submit an anonymous tip through the Village of New Lenox website @ Form Center • Submit a Crime Tip,” they wrote.

The scare comes amid fresh political tension involving the pontiff.

Earlier this week, President Trump took aim at Pope Leo XIV’s remarks calling for peace in the U.S. conflict with Iran, using a Truth Social post to draw a sharp contrast with the pope’s own family.

“Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t!” Trump said in the post. “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.”

The Pope also urged Catholics to be “in communion” with Muslims during a trip to Algeria. Algerian Muslims slaughtered dozens of Christians as recently as the 1990s.
