NEW: Prominent Democrat Rep. Banned By Airline For Stunning Behavior
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is spilling some serious tea about one of Washington’s most notorious “divas” — and no, he says, it’s not Nancy Pelosi.
In a conversation with Fox News host Jesse Watters, McCarthy recounted jaw-dropping behavior from a prominent Democrat congresswoman that ended with her being permanently banned from a major airline.
According to McCarthy, the incident happened years ago, when the lawmaker — a Texas Democrat — was boarding a flight. After the door had already closed, she reportedly decided she wanted to make another phone call and walked off the plane. That’s when things went from inconvenient to outrageous.
“They closed the door, she was pounding on it, and the pilot literally took her purse, because it was on the plane, put it out the window and dropped it,” McCarthy recalled. “And she got banned from flying that airline ever again.”
Watters, clearly seeing where the story was going, cut in: “Was it Sheila Jackson Lee?”

McCarthy’s response? A knowing grin and, “I think you know who we’re talking about.”
The former Speaker also painted a picture of what he described as entitled, over-the-top conduct from certain members of Congress. He said some lawmakers demanded special treatment to the point where staffers were forced to wait outside their apartments with car engines running — even though the U.S. Capitol was just a short walk away.
“They would literally get to walk onto the airplane, carry the suitcase, and put it up,” McCarthy said, adding that the Texas Democrat in question wasn’t the only one to exhibit “ferociously rude” behavior toward staff and airline crews.

Sheila Jackson Lee, a Houston-area Democrat who died in 2024, had long been dogged by accusations of being a difficult boss and traveler. Past media reports have detailed complaints from staffers and airline employees alike about her alleged demanding behavior — stories she dismissed in the past as exaggerated or politically motivated.
Neither Jackson Lee’s office nor the airline reportedly involved has commented on McCarthy’s claims as of press time.
For now, McCarthy’s parting shot leaves the answer hanging in the air — much like the banned lawmaker’s purse on that unforgettable day.
