NEW: Trump Threatens To Revoke Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship

President Donald Trump announced Saturday that Rosie O’Donnell, the vehemently anti-Trump comedian and talk show host who moved to Ireland following the 2024 presidential election, may soon be losing her U.S. citizenship.

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” the president posted on Truth Social. “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her,” Trump continued, concluding the post with, “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

The post continues with President Trump’s long-running tradition of trolling O’Donnell, with whom he had numerous disputes before entering the political arena. In an iconic presidential debate moment in the 2016 Republican primary, moderator Megyn Kelly asked Trump why he has called women “slobs” and “disgusting animals,” to which then-candidate Trump replied, “Only Rosie O’Donnell.”

Trump’s latest post was likely another “bait” post aimed at enraging Democrats, as U.S. presidents do not have the authority to unilaterally revoke someone’s U.S. citizenship. Natural born citizens can only lose their status under rare circumstances, including if they choose to renounce it themselves, or if they commit an act of treason.

In the latter instance, the U.S. State Department and federal court system typically presides over such matters.

The president’s post did indeed set Democrat lawmakers and pundits into a frenzy on Saturday morning. “Every Republican who goes on the Sunday shows tomorrow should be pressed to denounce this illegal and authoritarian proclamation from the president,” far-left video curator Aaron Rupar posted on X. “And none of this ‘I didn’t read the tweet’ bull***t.”

“We’ve now entered the revoking citizenship of people who are mean to me phase of the presidency. It only gets worse,” wrote liberal Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov.

Since moving to Ireland, O’Donnell has advanced a number of conspiracy theories surrounding the Trump Administration and the 2024 election, including the claim that the election was rigged in favor of President Trump. In a recent interview, O’Donnell questioned “why” Trump “won every single swing state” adding that one of the president’s “best friends” is “a man who owns and runs the internet.”

Without naming him directly, it was clear she was referring to tech billionaire Elon Musk. “I would hope that would be investigated and that we would see whether or not it was an anomaly or something else that happened on election night in America when Kamala Harris was filling up stadiums with people who supported her and Donald Trump was not able to do that,” she added.

“So it’s curious to me, and as an American and a believer in democracy, I would hope that we would be able to look at all of the reasons why this happened in our country.”

O’Donnell has not yet stated that she intends to renounce her U.S. citizenship, though she is in the process of working to secure citizenship in Ireland. “You know, I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country and when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back,” she said when announcing her move to the Emerald Isle back in March.
