NEW: Scott Jennings, Top Conservatives Stuck In Israel Amid War Threat: ‘Not Getting Out’
A group of well known Americans who paid a visit to Israel were prevented from leaving the country on Friday following the military strike Israel Defense Forces made against Iran’s nuclear sites as fears of retaliation grow. As a safety measure, the country has locked down all of its airports.
One of the individuals who found themselves stuck in Israel is CNN’s conservative star, Scott Jennings, who posted a series of videos featuring Israeli war planes flying over his hotel Thursday evening. He then shared a post of events unfolding on the ground.
“Definitely not getting out today,” Jennings said in comments delivered to the Daily Mail on Friday. The popular pundit is currently staying at a hotel located in Tiberius, which is on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.
“From my hotel balcony I watched jets streaming over head headed west to east,” he said in text messages. Jennings then stated that he was keeping a close eye on emergency alerts that popped up on his phone, but “didn’t feel in danger initially.”
“The most tense time was waiting for the Iranian response. And then of course we got the news that all the drones were neutralized,” the commentator explained.
Early on Friday morning, Israel deployed over 200 warplanes as part of a highly coordinated attack on Iranian military and nuclear sites. Four Iranian military commanders were killed in the strike.
Jennings then told the Daily Mail that earlier he had been moved to a safe room during a rocket attack in the city of Jerusalem, saying, “the locals take it all in stride.”
“Israel expertly carried out an attack on the enemies of Western Civilization, and I’m glad I had a front row seat,” he continued. “This place is very secure.”
Another individual stuck in the Jewish State is legendary Olympian Caitlyn Jenner. Jenner was in the country to participate in Tel Aviv’s Pride Parade. However, the event was canceled due to security concerns following IDF’s airstrike.
Jenner is currently staying at the David Intercontinental Hotel in Tel Aviv.
The former Olympian made an appearance on an Israeli television news station saying, “I spoke with my daughter Kylie, and she urged me to stay safe. I reassured her. Don’t worry, I’ll keep myself safe, and they’ll take care of me.”
Earlier this week, Jenner visited Kibbutz Be’eri and the Nova Festival site, hearing firsthand accounts from those who survived the horrific Hamas terrorist attacks that happened on Oct. 7, 2023.
Matthew Foldi, a journalist hailing from Washington, was also inside the country when the military strikes were carried out. He spoke to radio host Larry O’Connor on Friday.
“I have slept for about two hours since I got here,” he said, going on to refer to his visit as “my first potential nuclear war rodeo.” Foldi then said sirens went off in the middle of the night, mobilizing folks to head to bomb shelters and safe locations.
“I haven’t even been here for 24 hours and I’ve already gotten a masters degree in how to withstand ballistic missile strikes from the mullahs in Iran, which thus far have been completely unsuccessful,” he told O’Connor.
He then revealed that he was able to get some food and still had access to Wi-Fi.
“I’m having a normal day in Israel right now, it just so happens that most of the meetings I had planned aren’t happening,” he added.
