NEW: Stunning Scandal Rocks Democrat’s Campaign For Governor In Critical State
Political leaders from both parties in Virginia are fired up over a racist sign shown at a school board protest in Arlington on Tuesday. The target of the sign was Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears. Earle-Sears, who is the GOP nominee in the state’s gubernatorial race, gave an address at the Arlington School Board on Thursday.
The topic of discussion for the meeting was the board’s transgender bathroom policy after receiving pressure from the Department of Education, which threatened to cut federal funding from the school district. A transgender rights protest was going on outside the meeting.
Among the signs held up during the demonstration was one that read, “Hey Winsome, you have a gender neutral bathroom in your house.”
According to WRIC, local journalist Brandon Jarvis snapped a few photos of the other side of that same sign to X, which contained a racist statement against Earle-Sears, who is a black woman.
“Hey Winsome, if trans can’t share your bathroom, then blacks can’t share my water fountain,” the woman’s sign said.

As the photo circulated online, leaders in the state of Virginia, including Earl-Sears, started sharing their reactions.
“I’m disgusted, but not surprised,” Earle-Sears wrote on X. “This is the ‘tolerant’ left Abigail Spanberger defends. I’m the sitting Lieutenant Governor, second in command in the former Capitol of the confederate states. I’m an immigrant, a Marine and above all, a human being. There is no place for this disgusting hatred in our Commonwealth. Anyone who doesn’t condemn this sign is complicit in approving it.”
Earl-Sears’ Democratic Party opponent, Rep. Spanberger (D-VA), replied to the sigh by saying, “Abigail condemns this repulsive display. It’s racist, abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Current Gov. Glenn Younkin, a Republican, said, “The hypocrisy of the liberal left on display again. Winsome is so much bigger than this idiocy.”
Democratic Sen. Schuyler VanValkenburg posted on X, “Two wrongs don’t make a right. Been teaching my kids – and students – that for years. In the age of Trump it’s easy to get in the gutter. We should insist on betting the better angels of our nature.”
Sen. Minority Leader Ryan McDougle, a Republican, shared his feelings on the matter in a post on social media that simply stated, “The tolerant left strikes again.”
However, some folks commented on the post, believing the image was a fake, the work of artificial intelligence. One user said, “AI. Can spot it from 100 yards. Work of robot devils.”
Another believed it was the work of a GOP “plant” in the crowd.
