NEW: Teens Who Savagely Attacked Well-Known DOGE Staffer Avoid Jail Time
Two teenagers who participated in the viscous group assault on former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer Edward “Big Balls” Coristine avoided jail time after pleading guilty to simple assault at a Washington D.C. court.
The two teens, a boy and a girl from Hyattsville, Maryland, both of whom are 15-years-old, were sentenced to probation on Tuesday just over two months after they were arrested in their role for the August 3 attack.
The boy was sentenced to 12 months probation and was permitted to return home under strict house arrest guidelines, while the girl was given a nine-month probation and remanded to a local youth shelter, the New York Post reported.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. in the Logan Circle neighborhood, where Coristine and his girlfriend were targeted by a group of approximately eight teenagers.
The assailants approached the pair’s vehicle, attempting to force entry and steal the car. Coristine intervened to protect his companion, who managed to lock herself inside the vehicle, police said.
Coristine was then viciously assaulted, suffering a concussion and a broken nose.

“I hope you can figure things out and be ready for the consequences,” Coristine, 19, reportedly told the defendants via video link during Tuesday’s sentencing hearing. He went on to thank the court and responding officers for working to bring the teens to justice.
Tech mogul and former DOGE chief Elon Musk expressed his disgust with the lenient sentence in an X post. “This was a racist verdict by a racist judge,” Musk said of Judge Kendra Briggs, who is black. “The simple test to apply is if the races has been reversed, the White kids would be in prison. Equal justice for all!”

The Coristine assault was listed as one of the primary catalysts for President Donald Trump’s decision to federalize Washington D.C. police agencies and flood the city with additional federal agents, which led to a massive reduction in crime.
“Crime in Washington, D.C., is totally out of control. Local ‘youths’ and gang members, some only 14, 15, and 16-years-old, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released,” the president posted on Truth Social at the time.
“They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now! The Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these ‘minors’ as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14.”
