NEW: ‘The View’ Scrambles To Hire Pro-Trump Voices As Ratings Tumble

The ratings for liberal shows and networks are in complete free fall as downtrodden viewers turn off their tubes and go outside to touch some grass, leading ABC executives of “The View” scrambling to hire more pro-Trump voices to build back its audience.

The New York Post reported that the top brass at ABC have grown tired of one-sided squawking by the five daytime co-hosts as they tiresomely go through the motions of responding to every single statement or bit of news made by President-elect Donald Trump. Just in the past week, Whoopi Goldberg has promised to never utter the president’s name again; Sunny Hostin has blamed “racist” Black and Hispanic voters for supporting him; and Joy Behar encouraged censorship of news outlets like Fox to “teach children tolerance.” After those approaches got the show nowhere, things need to change, executives told senior producers in recent meetings.

The result is a “panic mode” atmosphere at ABC News, sources say, where leadership is scrambling to find conservative voices it can throw into the mix. High-level meetings at the Disney-owned network are exploring how best to jettison allegations of liberal biases, especially following Disney’s much-hyped lawsuit from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and criticism of ABC’s treatment of President Trump during his debate against Vice President Kamala Harris. ABC News Group President Debra OConnell has elevated Almin Karamehmedovic, who heads ABC News, to reorient executive producers and other show editors toward a new, bipartisan mission.

The first agenda item, one person said, will be to inject a pro-Trump persona into “The View”‘s stable where Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Ana Navarro run the show while former spokeswoman turned anti-Trump voice Alyssa Farah Griffin offers meek, contrarian points of view. “The View is facing pressure from higher-ups,” the source said. “Viewers can expect some major changes including bringing in new panelists that can bring in a pro-Trump perspective.”

No decision has been made yet about whether any of the six female hosts will be canned or a seventh chair will be added. “Everyone on ‘The View’ endorsed Kamala Harris. They lost. They are out of touch with America,” the source said. “For a show about different perspectives, ‘The View’ doesn’t seem to have any when it comes to Trump. ABC bosses don’t want to alienate the pro-Trump demographic.”

Part of the catalyst for change, a second source stated, was how badly ABC executives were caught “flat-footed” by the pro-Trump sentiment across the country. “We are trying to sort out how we cover the next 4 years when everyone inside ABC News is on one side,” the person said more broadly about the network. Other shows like “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight” largely hew to the center or nonpartisan, but their content is also part of discussions.

“The View is an opinion-based show featuring a diverse panel of women with different points of view – the current panel is clearly resonating with audiences given that the series just had its highest rated episode in more than a decade and hit a 4-year high in total viewers,” an ABC spokesperson told The Post in a statement.
