NEW: Top Reporter Hints At Incoming Indictments For ‘Obamagate’ Figures
Key individuals at the center of the “Obamagate” allegations against former President Barack Obama may soon be hit with indictments for their involvement, a top reporter predicted on Tuesday.
Matt Taibbi, best known for his “Twitter Files” exposé on the social media industry, said his contacts in the Trump administration understand the stakes couldn’t be higher as they attempt to bring Obama and some of his top intelligence advisors into a courtroom. If they don’t, Taibbi predicted, the latest moves would widely be seen “as a massive political failure for them.”
“I do think there will be significant indictments, I just don’t know what for. I think that’s a very important question,” he clarified.
In a recent New York Times op-ed, former CIA Director John Brennan and James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence, purport to try and “set the record straight” after facing accusations that they weaponized U.S. intelligence services to paint President Donald Trump as being under the control of Russian forces. Both accused Trump and Tulsi Gabbard, his director of national intelligence, of seeking to “rewrite history” around their involvement in reviewing Russian activity in the 2016 election.
In an interview, Taibbi told host Chris Cuomo that it’s a real possibility the Clintons are indicted for their alleged participation in directing intelligence officials to portray Trump as subservient to Russia.
“I keep being told that. I’m not sure I understand how that can be the case,” Taibbi said, “but I keep being told that Hillary Clinton is actually a target in these investigations.
“It may turn out that something having to do with her original email situation will be wrapped into some kind of conspiracy case, but I don’t know what it is and I don’t see it.”

Speaking on Fox News last week, CIA Director John Ratcliffe surprised host Maria Bartiromo by announcing that he has made additional referrals for criminal prosecution, building on those sent weeks earlier by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, including one about former President Barack Obama.
“That’s why I’ve made the referrals I have, DNI Gabbard has made referrals, and we’re gonna continue to share the intelligence that would support the ability of our Department of Justice to… bring fair and just claims against those who have perpetrated this hoax and the American people and this stain on our country,” he said.
Documents obtained from a classified annex last month appear to confirm that Clinton personally approved efforts by her subordinates to tie Trump to Russia by leveraging the authority of intelligence community sources — despite lacking evidence of any firm connection.
