NEW: Trespasser Breaches Kamala Harris’ Malibu Property

A woman illegally entered the Malibu property of former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, on Friday night before being stopped by private security, according to Harris’ office and local law enforcement.

Harris and Emhoff were not home when the incident unfolded.

“Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home,” Eduardo Negrón, a spokesperson for Harris, told The Hill.

Negrón said the couple was grateful for the quick response.

“They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly,” he said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were dispatched to the property at about 10:30 p.m. after receiving a suspicious-person call.

By the time deputies arrived, the woman was outside the property, according to authorities.

“When deputies arrived they made contact with the private security detail on the property. The individual who was outside of the property upon our arrival was warned and advised by deputies to leave the premises and left voluntarily without incident,” the department said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to Kamala Harris’ Malibu residence after an unidentified woman reportedly showed up at the property twice Friday night.

Authorities took a report at the scene, but the woman was not arrested or cited.

No arrest was made, but deputies took a trespassing report.

Authorities said patrols around the property would be increased as a precaution following the breach.

The incident is renewing attention on Harris’ security arrangements after her Secret Service protection ended following her departure from office.

Former vice presidents are generally entitled to six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office. Former President Joe Biden had approved an extension for Harris before leaving the White House, but President Donald Trump later revoked that extended protection.

That decision left state and local agencies working with Harris’ private security operation.

The California Highway Patrol has assisted with protection for Kamala Harris, although CHP personnel were not at the Malibu property when Friday night’s incident occurred, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Los Angeles Police Department had also previously helped provide security but ended that involvement last year after criticism over the use of city officers for the former vice president’s protection.

The woman who entered the property has not been publicly identified.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive or said whether she had any previous connection to Harris or Emhoff.

Despite the security breach, officials said the woman never reached the residence itself and left without further incident after deputies arrived.

Harris’ office has not released additional details about the encounter.
