President-elect Donald Trump announced a flurry of cabinet picks on Friday night, including Treasury, Labor and a number of additional roles.

In what was perhaps the most high-profile nomination, Trump tapped Scott Bessent, founder of investment firm Key Square Group, as the secretary of the Treasury. A longtime supporter of the president-elect, Bessent is a staunch advocate of Trump’s. tariff plan and also served as an economic adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign, according to a report from Bloomberg.

“I am most pleased to nominate Scott Bessent to serve as the 79th Secretary of the Treasury of the United States,” Trump said. “Scott is widely respected as one of the World’s foremost International Investors and Geopolitical and Economic Strategists. Scott’s story is that of the American Dream.”

Bessent is also a major proponent of the president-elect’s plan to scale back cryptocurrency regulations and has advocated for a number of Trump’s economic proposals, including lower taxes, spending restraint and deregulation

The president-elect also nominated Russ Vought to lead the Office of Management and Budget. Vought previously worked in the first Trump Administration and has most recently spent time at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.

“He did an excellent job serving in this role in my First Term – We cut four Regulations for every new Regulation, and it was a Great Success!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

Trump further announced Friday that U.S. Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR) was being nominated for labor secretary. Her appointment was supported by the Teamsters Union, which broke with Democrats and opted not to endorse a presidential candidate this cycle.

“I am proud to hereby nominate Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer, from the Great State of Oregon, as United States Secretary of Labor,” Trump wrote in an official statement. “Lori has worked tirelessly with both Business and Labor to build America’s workforce, and support the hardworking men and women of America. I look forward to working with her to create tremendous opportunity for American Workers, to expand Training and Apprenticeships, to grow wages and improve working conditions, to bring back our Manufacturing jobs. Together, we will achieve historic cooperation between Business and Labor that will restore the American Dream for Working Families.”

Chavez-DeRemer was first elected in 2022, though she narrowly lost her re-election bid earlier this month.

Additional Friday night picks include former NFL player and Texas State Rep. Scott Turner, who will lead the department of Housing and Urban Development. Turner served in the first Trump Administration with the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council. Johns Hopkins surgeon Marty Makary will serve as the head of the Food and Drug Administration after emerging as a significant critic of COVID-19 pandemic lockdown policies.

Makary and Centers for Disease Control pick Dave Weldon announced that they will be working alongside Health And Human Services nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in order to advance Trump’s “Make America Healthy Again” agenda.

Trump will also be bringing back conservative commentator Dr. Sebastian Gorka in a counterterrorism advisory role.  The president-elect announced Friday that former State Department official Alex Wong will be appointed assistant to the president and principal deputy national security advisor, and that Gorka will serve as deputy assistant to the president and senior director for counterterrorism.
